sorry about the route names on my pix....

image #1 - Linda ascends a great new route in Yosemite Valley which is still "embargoed" from publicity, this is a wonderful climb over 4 pitches (maybe 5?) and improbably at 5.9... Linda is sending the "money pitch" in that image, though there is more than enough joyful problems... like the traverse to extended reach-for-tree to monkey swing move on the last one that will have you whooping for joy.

image #2 - Melissa works the bottom part of Finger Lickin', 5.10d, Lower Merced Canyon, Yosemite Valley. Melissa, coming off the couch, nearly got this onsight.

image #3 - Eric Gabel exploring new territory somewhere in the High Sierra, while his comments just a bit after this were: "Hey Ed, I'm not really feeling it today," he pushed through his initial doubts and ended up authoring an awesome line: steep, stems, jams, underclings, three pitches worth of wonderful moves spicy up to about 5.10, with a fourth pitch that eases you onto a great summit and a 4th class scramble back to the base. Name: "Great Goggley Boogley" put up in July 2011.... location withheld to protect other innocent lines yet to be done (sorry).

I once watched a very 'accomplished' woman climber stem her way up an overhanging face climb. Made it look hard and awkward. I did it next with nary a single stem standing on all of the holds UNDER my feet. Stemming has a place but it ain't always a useful posture.
