RitG...Clinton's health care plan was supposedly a decent plan but got shot down by the usual regressives..How can you criticize Obama's plan so early in the game...? You seem to be jumping to conclusions based on opinion and not fact..?

So the lesser of two evils doesn't want a public option, workers rights, collective bargaining, give lower tax rates for the rich and corporations, against gay marriages, planned parenthood, clean air, clean water, sell our public lands, against women making their own decision on abortion, dismantle SS and medicare, reduced unemployment benefits, de-fund education, de-fund breakfast and lunch programs for children and so on.

Makes sense to me.

"the lowest tax rates in modern history" are the reason why america is the most prosperous, most technologically advanced, most generous nation with the greatest opportunity for people to advance their lives economically in ALL of history

If you look at the nations economic history, the nation as a whole was much more prosperous and the budget was far more balanced when the rich paid higher taxes.

Reagan tax cuts started this whole excess deficit train

Majority Leader Eric Cantor Has Financial Stake in Dollar Collapse

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor.

http://www.truth-out.org/news-thom-hartmann-majority-leader-eric-cantor-has-financial-stake-dollar-collapse/1309535973

Want to know why House Majority Leader Eric Cantor REALLY walked away from debt-limit negotiations last week? Because he has a financial stake in our nation defaulting on its debt. According to Cantor’s latest financial disclosures – he has a $15,000 short on the dollar – in other words, a $15,000 bet that the US dollar’s value will plummet. And there’s no better way to cause the dollar to lose value – than to ensure America defaults on its debt. Cantor’s office dismissed concerns over what appears to be a blatant conflict of interest – arguing that the short bet is just part of a “balanced portfolio.”....

And how is that different than the sort of betting on sports that Pete Rose got dissed for?

That's WAY out of line. He's running the ship, he should go down with the ship.

That is a major problem - often times it is because the reimbursements are so bad. On some level one gets what they pay for and I don't mean that as a negative comment toward you. For example, providers actually lose money never mind break even on some plans and that includes medicaid. We probably all need to be aware of your experiences when choosing plans. I personally page huge amounts for health care insurance and I truly wish there was a better option. It is arguably one of my largest expenditures. The cost of doing business in health care is extraordinarily high, also. That is yet another problem.

at least it's jobs in america, unlike blowing up money in Iraq.

Yet it's a broken system and cutting back on already scarce money for medicare and medicaid won't help because as you note, they run damn lean already

My take:

    Trillions spent on wars
Too many loopholes WRT corporate taxation
Too low of a tax on the wealthy
Jobs shipped overseas, no revenue from the Middle class
Large import:export discrepancy, no more manufacturing in the US
Bail-out for Wall Street w/out criminal convictions

There's actually a long list that does not include SS or medicare.

Bob and K-man nail it down> it's really about that simple and the math and stats are there to see. Entitlements have only been cut for many years except Bush's medicare drug plan that was a gift to big pharma

Please be more specific and show numbers to back up your statement.

Rita wrote: What about big bailouts and economic "stimulus" packages - Democrat (Obama)

Wasn't a large percentage of the Obama stimulus paid back?

The Bush stimulus wasn't paid back at all?
