This is a thread to show appreciation to neebee. Mainly because I can't think of anyone else who gives so much positivity into everything that comes from this board. Always there to lend a hand, send some well wishes, and show some love.

Recently during my injury I was laid up with not much to do. Soon after I recieved a card in the mail and then following it I got a dreamcatcher that was personally made with a wonderful story included. All this from someone I have never met and rarely even shared a post with. I am honored to have been part of her giving process and would like to keep it going and pay it forward.

I don't know if neebee would like me giving out her address but I know that some others may have it as well. Let me know if its okay neebee. As I am writing this I am throwing some money in an envelope and sending it out to her. Its not much as I am also poor but I still have the internet!

The money I am sending isn't because I feel like I owe her anything its because I want her to be able to continue making so many people feel so wonderful.

So thanks a bunch neebee! Keep on giving!

P.S. If anyone else wants to help join on in, No amount of kindess is ever wasted, no matter how small.

I'm picturing a big glass jar sitting on a picnic table in Yellowpines about a month from now stuffed full of donations to get Neebee a decent computer.

Windows 95 - criminy that's scary!

Four or five Franklins worth of spare change should set her up and get her back in the spreading fairy dust biz.

All hail neebee the gem!

She sent my mom a dreamcatcher in the hospital.

And cards.

And then a shawl.

She's priceless. Yes, a computer would be a great idea!

Lets hear it for neebee! Back in late April when I was all cracked up and battered in the hospital, she took the time to send me a lovely and heartfelt e-mail wishing me a speedy recovery. This is a very lovely person who deserves recognition, and if a few of my dollars will help get her a better computer, I'm ready to chip in!

Let's set up a "Get neebee a computer" fund.

A great idea but first a pop quiz.

Which of the following two purchases for Neebee is she more apt to like?

1. A computer you selected

2. A set of lingerie you selected

Only arguments over rap bolting last longer than arguments over computers.

Myself? I'd bet on the lingerie.

Glad that the idea has found some traction. A thought - the challenge may include hardware (reliable, reasonably modern), software (again, reasonably modern), and some support. Plus a transition to the new system. So there may be a need for a bit of support with those things, which can be hard to do remotely.

I'm still going with the lingerie.

Seriously though we don't know what Neebee needs. If one of the many experts on ST were able to sit down with her they could put a good system together fairly quickly.

As bad as some (I had windows 3.1 inflicted upon me) feel windows is, she apparently is familiar with that system.

If one of us has an old 4 Gig iMac with Word on it they could just loan it to her after setting it up for internet.

That might give her a better idea. Those old iMacs must be worth about $5 now. Anybody got a spare for a bit? I threw one away myself. A G4?

I did not set up for youtube. One can live without youtube.

Barely.

Low End Mac claims you can run early OSX on some early iMacs. Tray load?

Can't add much to the neebee kudos already posted. Selfless and giving seems to summarize it.

I'm in for $100 towards a new lappy. But I never really understood the problem. Was it access to the net or hardware problems?

Edit: it appears neebee was having problems updating her netzero account.

I'd be willing to coordinate the collection of fundage from the taco and forwarding it on to neebee for a new lappy. Someone else needs to give her technical advice on what to buy. We probably also need to help set up a ISP account. Again, some techie would be better at that than I.

If this works for the taco, let me know.

We should do a Facelift collection for sure. Fatty or Anders can hold it all and 'process' it to Neebee.

Somebody honest could process PayPal donations to her too. That'd be easiest for non-Facelifters. Once the Paypal account was done, cut her a check or money-order.

I think the Facelifters should be able to raise enough though.

Or non-facelifters can send money to Facelifters and donate that way. I dunno, I'm just thinkin'...

Neebee finally has a new computer, but what I think is really holding her up is dialup. I've helped her a bit with processing some book files and we end up mailing them back and forth, because her internet speed is slow.

She's tight on money, as are many people! I wonder if some of us are willing to help get Neebee on a faster internet connection? I can put in a bit of cash and I see that others on this thread have offered to help in the past with a computer. What about hooking her up with broadband?

I looked up ISPs near where she lives and AT&T seems to be a good bet.
http://articles.directorym.com/Broadband_Internet_Top_5_Providers_Muskegon_MI-r907-Muskegon_MI.html

I'm proposing we subscribe Neebee to DSL, and pay the 1st year at $19.95 (1st 12 months).

That's about $240, plus $75 for a modem, which there's a rebate for. After the initial year, the monthly fee is $24.95. Maybe we can do a 2nd year?

I don't want to collect funds myself. Am willing to help with anything technical, and if others have recommendations for other broadband providers, please post up. Is there anyone willing to take care of receiving money? other suggestions?

Great idea! I would gladly pay for a month, say every April or so. Only12 months in a year, I am sure we can get at least 12 folks to commit to a month.
Not sure, Neebee, what your banking situation is, I.e. Do you bank online so we could transfer funds right before the automatic payment goes to the service provider, or we just mail checks using the cable service account number.

hey there say, you all... ohmy.... please understand, i am not even working right now... :(

and i am relying on so much help...

why don't we wait until i have a job, maybe in spring or summer i will get so blessed and then i can upgrade the netzero...

i am so not able to do this modern stuff...

but believe me, just knowing that folks are sweet enough to care and accept me as part of the tribe is more than enough...

i am okay... really... my dial up is at least much better than before... with this new computer...

and--there is no way i will be able to keep up with this...
really, there is not, right now...

i was a great mom, and housewife, and home-front gal, but i am not
doing well in the fast paced buisness world, and i can't do numbers, so,
i need to find dishwashing somewhere (stock here, makes you do cash registers and i mix up my numbers and go blank, too much, and go too slow, so a good paying job is just NOT in the cards...and i tried medical transcription school and even auto cad in calif)...

it is THE LOVE that i really will treasure...

so--
no no no... guys...

*awww, you are making me cry though, really...

please not to worry, and keep you money for those that get
injured...

if i had it, i'd give to the injured and their families, too...
i really would...

so no no, dear climbers...
*plus my FOLKS would be very upset at me, and i love my folks...

i have dreamed of doing THIS for near HALF my life...
i am so grateful to have the chance to share and give back to you all, for the acceptance here on the ol' taco...

when i first stepped in, i was one of the ol' non-climbers, but loved the greatoutdoors and all the adventures that my brother had, and all the discoveries of all the adventures that you all have had...

the pictures tell so many stories, here...

and the comaradarie is precious... and the understanding of what it means to have team-work in such a dangerous sport/way of life is precious as well...

i love sitting by this fireside and enjoying you all, just for who you are...

and, god bless to all your families and loved ones too....

*there are a few of you all that i may get brave enough to send cards to, soon, too, as i get to know more of you, little by little here... so not meaning to leave any new-friend out... :)

neebee, kindly care enough about everyone here (as if you don't) to say that you will accept a gift of a faster computer connection. You are too valuable a member of our community to have to put up with the impediment of a slow, non-happy connection.

Your delight in the speed is what we want to hear about. And you will save so much of your precious time and get so much more done! You have nothing to compare it to. It is blindingly fast and it will have to keep pace with YOU! So take us up on our offer. I am in, just as the others.

So be reasonable. Fairies abound. Especially here. Pray on it.

hey there say, all... not sure what is going on here, oh my...

i tried to get dsl from netzero, ... they said they did not have it in my area, for the net zero...

let me pray about this... i can't put you all out, to do this...
my folks would be ashamed of me...
i just can't do this...

very tempting, as this dail up is starting to cause me trouble, but:
trouble is what makes us overcome, in life...

i need to 'grin and bear it' as my dad would say, >:D<
i love my daddy...

and my mom, we are old fashioned, it would be hard enough for her to know that i got such a wonderful help for the shed...
i love my mommy...

so thus, i need to see what i can do, that i can somehow afford...

the shed, was an emergency, and would not last long, :(

but this, well, fun as it is, it is not an emergency...
let me think and pray this through...
perhaps netzero will soon get dsl in my area...

you are good support to keep me going in spirit...
sometimes it seems to be too much:
but good buddies are what keeps us strong...

not to worry, the ONLY reason, i keep mentioning
slow computer is so that none will think i am rude, when i
can NOT post, or give feedback, or reply as to the nice
pictures that you have taken such care and time to post...

THAT is the only reason why--not to complain... oh my, not to
do that... i am 'old school' we hug all the closer to the
trail and do not give up... tenacity kicks in, and god's grace...

i just can't do it as much the more things update on line...
i just with all my heart do NOT WANT TO BE RUDE when
i can't share, so i let you all know on each post--WHY...

just please, keep up prayers for me and good wishes and
the tide will turn... something will work out that
will not hurt my conciouse as to my folks that i love
so much!!!!

thank you for your love and concern...
and god bless so dearly...
i'm haning in here, and if i do not do much as time,
don't forget me...

and more important:
YOU ALL ARE NOT FORGOTTEN... not ever...
:)

edit: perhaps, too, it is the browers, and the java update...
i may have to take this back to staple and have them put it online, on their connections and update some stuff that cant' do...
such as perhaps the google chrome, etc...

i could SELL someone a dream catcher for that, that would help, but
let me call them and what that involves...
will let you know what they say this week...

edit:

oh you guyssssssssssssssss, oh my, not an anglel...
just a little ol' gal, trying to use my trail in life, to do my best,
as to why i am here on this ol' earth...

my mommy said, 'bloom where you are planted'...
and the good lord has planted me here,
>:D<

my mommy loves gardens and the greatoutdoors, with all her heart...
so here, i do my best... >:D

hey there say, mouse... i was just looking for two appreciation threads for two folks tonight...

wanted to thank you for a warm coffee set-down gift and
wanted to thank blackbird for card-material for sending cards to folks,
and here, i see this tonight...

you would not know, but:

i had two more dreams about my daddy... :(

he is in a bad way, and can't even communicate with family now, as,
he is just too weak... :(

i know my mom is very sad, but she is being a good ol' old fashioned gal, like she taught me to be... as to morals and loyal and such, holding down the
fort...

so, in both my dreams, i just saw my daddy 'on this journey'... and i was there just letting tears fall all over the place... telling him i loved him...

i hope the good lord PASSES that dream to HIM, during his sleep times,
so, actually, i am appreciating the love of my daddy, all these years, tonight...

and my tears are all over him, now...

thanks for thinking of me...
and remember:

when EVER anyone appreciates US in any way, it reflects on those that
have 'gone before us' parent-folks, family, or friends, that in someway
taught us to be 'something in the world' that they
would be proud of... we don't do it alone:

we do it by good examples...
thank god, i have had mine...
and thank god, he taught me how to listen and learn...

many folks hurt and we may have the balm, if we just try...

keep praying for my daddy, any of you that may visit here, tonight...
god bless...

thank you for kind words, but remember, it's not me,
it comes from all that WENT BEFORE me... and god's grace...
plus--i'd be too shy to reach out, and afraid that i'd
do it wrong... as well...
:)

:) edit, said nicely:
ooops, just letting you know, i don't go by that
word, 'christian' as, it means a whole lot of stuff that
encompasses a lot of strange things, that hurt folks...
i love jesus and how he takes care of me, and how he has
watched over my kids, when they were young and how he
takes care of me and our life... :)

:) i just love god, in the way that a kid honors their
dad, i reckon, you'd say? kind of hard to explain...

but god knows... :)

Well it is Ground Hog day so to that . . .
we both, or I at least, saw in you, my shadow and so ran away.
That may seem poor form to you but it is my survival instinct.
Neebee, thank you from far away, thank you for Caring!
I always care too, but share when I do,
Not sure why ?
when the Spirt, moves I tap atap and pray it is received in the love that was meant!
Peace and closure are
so hard to find,
That is why I do what I Do !, you too I feel .

Neebs,
We can probably find some DSL provider in your area, or a fast ISP (Internet Service Provider) who can get your computer hooked for better service. There is always a way.

I really, really do think it is time your get DSL. Mouse is right about how much better use of you time you could make. You could send out a couple dozen more Christmas cards! You could make another dream catcher! The DSL would more than pay for itself because of the time you would save.

And truly, we will all benefit from you having DSL. You see, it is sort of for our convenience as well for you to have DSL, because then you could be here on the Taco more easily and maybe a bit more often, and we would all benefit from that.

As Doug would say, it is all perfectly logical. :) Actually, I think he just said it. :) So, because it would make us all so very, very happy if you would let us give this tiny little gift to you; one that you will never need to dust or find a place to put it on display, or anything like that, please let us give this simple gift to you.

We are not making you a special dream catcher, or a quilt, or even a card. We are not doing art for you. We are just wanting to give you a better connection so you can use your time better, which we all know will make all of us even happier.

We can find a good Mac or PC for you if you want to upgrade your computer. If you are happy with your computer that you have now, that is good. Just please allow us to set it up to run a lot better, which will be a good thing for the entire Climber Tribe. Really.

Please think about it, and know that your Mom will be super proud of you that you are such a completely valued and loved member of the Taco and of the Climbing Tribe. And she is very proud of all you do. She will be happy that some of us just want to help you have time to do more creating and loving. :)

Please pray about this, and I think that you will see that it is simply G*d's way of arranging for something that will spread more love for everyone. :)

neebs, I am doing great, but this new porcelain is tough and I am still learning how to use it. But having entirely too much fun!

Okay, we will talk soon about the high speed ISP for your computer. Take your time, and gather all the info and opinions you need to make a decision with which you will be comfortable.
