Great photos Peter!

You can really sense the amount of energy and determination Molly had.

I remember at Outward Bound we always had a marathon at the end of the
girls course. Everyone was taking bets on who would win.

Everyone but me bet on a girl named Leslie who had really long legs -
probably 5'10" tall - and who ran several miles every day.

I had worked with Molly and I knew her well by then so I bet on her.
Sure enough, with her short legs and true grit, she managed to win.

Emerson. Yes! Thank you!

She was a cool person too, although I didn't know her as well
as Molly and Barb Eastman. Our patrols were sent on different routes.

No kidding, Jan. Molly was made from real stuff for sure. When the going got tough, she got verbal, too. It was quite fun to be with her at such points because she verged on the piratical, even. She could swear like one, you see, and used her whole body to do this. Great woman.

What is a poor old trophy hubby suppose to do?

Don't tempt us with rhetorical questions.

Hi Sully-

You're probably right about the 10 miles but
my senior brain can't remember for sure.

renzo-

Ask Molly if she remembers the name of her first climb in the Valley.
It was a chimney over by Reed's Pinnacle and I think it was the Iota,
but I can't remember that for sure either.

Hey Jan,
Molly seems to think her first climb was on Glacier Pt. Apron in the spring of 74 and met you on the Iota in the fall of 74...
cheers

Thanks, but that can't be right because I spent all of '74 in Nepal.
It had to be the previous year. Anyway, I didn't realize that she
had been in the Valley the spring before we taught at
Outward Bound. Maybe it was Barb who had never been to the
Valley before?

cool to see the old pics of new dimensions. somehow it feels like the rock should look different as well as the people. but no, the rock stays the same and the people change. that must have been one proud ass climb back then ! thanks for posting these pics peter !
