Saw Crimper on saturday...she was the only one to leave a note!
She was climbing well... couldn't tell she ever broke her arm.
I flailed however...I think it was like a 5.10e...

Went by Lockers site about 4 different times but he was never there.

I was there on Sunday.

Here is the full report:

7:55 a.m. Passed locker's car heading west out of Park near Vagmarken Buttress. (Boy was that a close call).

8:02 am: Hit Intersection Parking Area; immediately used toilet facility.

8:05:34 am: Emerge. Scope parking area for signs of any ST types. No sign.

8:10:03 am: Double Cross.

8:15:48 am: See guy giving bunk advice to others trying to climb Dogleg (couldn't tell if they were ST types).

8:16:44 am: Parking lot. Still no sign of ST types.

8:21:33 am: See guy who is heavily pretaped in parking lot. Doesn't look like ST type.

8:25:21 am: Still no ST types.

8:28:53 am: Off climbing. Do not run into any ST types.

4:47:31 pm: Crossroads. No ST Types.

Hey hey hey! J-tree is awesome. I'm sitting in Palm Springs right now. Heading back to San Diego in a hour or so. Mark is a friend's brother -known him a long time. He was not the ONLY person I was climbing with. I left notes where I'd be on both days.

The rock is awesome. Stick to it like velcro. I will say there is not much of me that is not scraped or bruised - Yay! It was great meeting Shack and his daughter. And he was not climbing poorly either. It was a lot of fun. Did run into Crotch at the restaurant - fun fun! And Locker was of course everywhere though we did not climb together at all. Hit a lot of the classic areas/climbs.

I forget/did not know most climb names so please forgive. The things i do recall are:
trashcan rocks - multiple things
uncle fester
fingertip traverse
the banana cracks (the left most one being my favorite climb)
coarse and buggy.
Honestly cant' say I hated anything. It was all great. Wish I could remember what all I did though...

I hope to get back out here for a longer period of time in early 2006. Gnat, I'll let you know so you can avoid me (haha). Maybe some of you will show....

I am waiting on my disk of photos - when i get them, i'll post. i took a special one just for you guys!!

Locker:

Who else from ST was there? I was not trying to avoid anyone. Just did not run into anyone besides Shack, you and Crotch. Luckily Crotch said hello or I wouldn't have know he was there. And happily Shack found us and hung out. Who was avoiding us???

Crimpie

p.s. Mark did not take any of the whacky photos. Part of the silliness was that some 'odd' photos just kept showing up on his camera. poor guy.

I got sidetracked riding both days and I couldn't con another rider into driving 6 hours roundtrip out to Josh. Sounds like I missed out.

Hope to see you next year at that conference, Crimpie. Doesn't sound as though you were short on companions. Figure they were fawning over you like a regular rock star.

The photos of Haley are awesome and yet they don't even capture her precious essence! Don't know that a camera ever could. She's beautiful and great fun to hang out with.

And yeah yeah, I have some climber's hands. Before I started climbing they were model like hands, perfect nails, long, slender, blah blah blah. I sort of like 'em better now.

OUCH! looks like the one on the right found some of my toenail left behind!! Wait until you see those photos!

Why, you ask? I am thinking the answer will be something akin to "Because she can!"

Will I be able to get ST people to climb with me during my JTree trip if I don't flash a PTP(partial tittie picture)???? I can't climb as hard as Crimpergirl either....And I'm old, too....

I showed only partial boobies. I thought it was my thumbs that you people like. Hmmmmm.

Happygrrrrrrrrrrl - tell again when you'll be there. If I can come out and play, I'll climb with you. And unless you want, I'll keep my top pulled up. Any you're old? Bwaahahhahahahaahah. I am sure I've got more years on you - that is unimportant.

Shack - I can't believe you already posted the picture of my new tattoo of you. That was fast!

Oh, and I LOVE bisquits and gravy and can make a mean plate of those. So, Ouch! - you're out here next.....

Mac: bummed about the news. Really a feckin drag. Next time I get out here we can have the "Chisled brisket J-tree Weekend" by Mac, Happygrrrrrrrrrrl, and Crimpie. Deal?

I have a new whatever you call those intitiall-y things....Instead of PTP(partial tittie picture), how about PETS....(Partially Exposed Tittie Snapshot)

Locker - I always have a great time when I'm out climbing. And how could I not, at Joshua Tree? Even if it snows, I suppose(oh...that could work in James' poem thread):

If it snows, I suppose
When you drop, it softens the plop

Crimper - I am getting to LV on miday 11/30, and will return(from LV) on 12/12, also midday. If I can hook it up, I will try to get some climbing at Red Rocks too, But I'm looking for that to be at the tail of the trip, because I want my Hidden Valley campsite, and know I've got to arrive before the weekenders.....so I'm coming in on Wednesday. That ought to give me a prime choice of spots.

I can't wait!

No, sadly there was no leading. I wanted mileage and those I climbed with wouldn't be caught dead near any bolts. So a toproper I was. That is Uncle Fester. He's a beast. Very very fun though. There is enough climbing at J-tree for a lifetime obviously - I only got in a smidgeon. Means I must come back for more. I'm working a December trip as I type this. It'll be cold, but hopefully not too cold.....

not caught dead near bolts?
all things being relative, some of the greatest climbs in Jtree are bolted. not exactly "sport" climbs though.
if you limit yourself to trad only you'll be missing out on a lot of fantastic climbing at the monument.
late in December of 2000 is when i met my wife in Hidden Valley. temps were in the mid seventies all week.
maybe a local can give you a more "open" (read WONDERLAND) tour next time :)
sounds like you had a good trip.

I'll do that. I like the scary runouts as much as the next person. It was nice to get on some classics - clearly I feel did not even scratch the surface there. I'd like to lead some stuff definitely. Sounds like December is not such a bad trip time - yay. I'll be there. When I get my dates finalized, I'll let everyone know. Hopefully it doesn't cause the crowds to hide all gnat-like!

:)

Our big crim meetings are in about a week. I'll have to cozy up to the Calif universitites that are hiring..... dreams.
