Ok, I'm not forbidden anymore :-)

So as you were sailing across the South Seas solo we can see the time lapse in the growth of the beard on your face. Some of the pictures you took of yourself were kind of funny.

Ricardo:

Congrats, again, on your climb. It was such a pleasure to hear you before and after your A4 pitch...its kind of funny to be living vicariously through another climber when you're on your own route, you know?

I look forward to meeting you sometime, Ricardo. Thanks for posting this report. :)

Ricardo, great test of yourself, nice trip report. You can easily claim the rank of Hard Man. 13 days of testing yourself and never bailing. Congrats.

Werner, I love the fact that you got Forbidden! Yuks all around.

On a different note, I was in Yosemite, in Wawona, over the weekend, for a Yosemite Botanical Symposium. Lots of things to love in Yosemite, lots of ways to enjoy it. Climbing is one way, botany study is another. Tread lightly, guys and gals, we are loving our Park to death. As climbers, we should recognize how fragile it is. After all, if the granite is fragile, think of how all the rest is.

Climb hard, climb safe, be a responsible steward. We don't own it, we just pass through.

Nice trip report Ricardo.

Actually, it was Cedar who yelled "f*#k, f*#k". He was laying in the ledge after he totally bonked and I was trying to tension/level the portaledge while he was on it.

I tied a bogus slip-knot on one of the sides of the tensioning straps to a carabiner on my belay loop. I put my weight in it and the knot came untied. I fell about two feet over the ledge but scared the hell out of poor Cedro. He also thought I was talus food. Haa haa haa.

Sorry about the ruckus.....

Just see at the beginning no beard yet. I also see the obligatory tall malt liquor in the back ground that the modern hard man now needs to calm his steel nerves before his climbing jaunts?

Haa haa, yes Alpine, I'm still running the same ledge but got hooked up by Middendorf with a new harness for the ledge (I forgot to thank you John, thanks bro). I actually borrowed Ivo's ledge for the Space ascent.

Here's a couple more shots I took up there.

Enjoy!!!

Ricardo, on his launch day.

Double rainbow the day we blasted.

A falcon, high up on the route

ammon ..

did i tell you that i almost got the chop while jugging up the 2nd belay ...

long jug right -- about 350' .. when i got to the station, the sheath had been sawed through on the line, and i was working on the core ..

.. i hate long jugs now.

------------

i'm glad everyone is enjoying the pictures .. i'm working on a slideshow that incorporates pictures that my bro took from the meadow and tom's pictures too...

"Emotionally, the stress of leading that pitch was incredible, when I finished leading it, I just sat in the portaledge, eating jelly bellies, and talking to myself."

Ricardo--that's got to rank up there with the greatest climbing quote of all time. Good work!
