Guido! That photo was so striking, I needed to see its background story.

Here's the rest of the story, from Snopes.com

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/tents-situation/

The putative victim named in the text accompanying this image, Michio Hoshino, was in fact a real wildlife photographer who died after being mauled by a brown bear on the Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern Russia in August 1996. However, this picture was neither taken by Hoshino nor recorded the circumstances of his death: its an entry from a Worth1000 Photoshop competition in which contestants were tasked with creating a last-photo hoax: the final photograph of the victim, whoever he might be, had a camera on him right before it happens.

Ed! Maybe it wanted the tent intact, after the removal of the previous occupant?

Perhaps there were no nearby caves & it wanted the rain shelter?

And perhaps, photoshopping a bear in a tent entrance, is far easier than photoshopping one ripping open a tent?

Just because they're top of the food chain doesn't mean they can't have manners, Ed.

A lot more work in a date palm. They gotta be trimmed, bags put around the fruit to keep the boids off, some get picked progressively, gotta remove the bags, etc...
