People,
Jello just announced this on another thread and no one noticed so I figured it needed it's own thread.
-----

On the 24th of February, 2010, I BECAME A GRANDFATHER! At 7 pm, my daughter Sonja introduced //a beautiful new spirit to planet earth. Valentina weighed in at 7 lbs, 7 oz and was 19-1/2" long. She arrived complete with a full head of dark hair (probably due to the father's genetics.)//

Miracles happen every day in this world.

congratulations, jello. babies are a wonderment, and connection to the future.

hope you're close enough to the littl'un to give and receive lots of hugs

"Touch is the most fundamental sense. A baby experiences it, all over, even before he is born and long before he learns to use sight, hearing, or taste, and no human ever ceases to need it. Keep your children short on pocket money, but long on hugs."

Well thanks everybody! It really is special for me to get to know my grandchild. I made it over to CO for the birth but unfortunately had a bad cold, so I couldn't get close to either of my girls. I'll be stopping by for a couple of days on my way to Europe next week, though, so plan to make up for lost time, then.

All the best to all of you. May those of you who haven't yet experienced the joy of being a grandparent, or a parent for that matter, be as lucky as me!

They're as beautiful as you are. Congratulations! So....is being a parent or a grandparent better? Not a fair question, but I would imagine, being a parent, that being grandparent is the icing on the cake! Go spoil em both!
Peace

Again, thanks everyone. I wasn't sure I'd live to get to meet and greet my grandchild/children. With Valentina at least we'll have some time to get to know each other. Hopefully about 30 years or so!
