Hey Roger how's doin

Might be some body deleting their posts or somebody just plain bored .... trying to stir up something.

Who knows what goes on in the minds of the world.

I suggested to Mac that the edit/delete option disappear after a week or two, so the interesting Supertopo stories and conversations can be retained in context, otherwise the deleters can make a thread completely nonsensical...

If someone was really bored, they could find the link on google and check out the cached version and compare with a recent bumped thread.

Ok, I admit it, I am really bored this Sunday morning (procrastinating on an article on Lynx I am writing for the local paper), and looked at the googled cached version of the thread, "Gimme sumthin' intelligent" that Werner started a while ago, and it turns out that Festus deleted a couple of posts about Juan de Fuca...

Ok, that's it for mindless procrastinating. c-ya all...

I don’t understand, John? Are you saying you were working on the article for the local paper to avoid your contribution to ST? You slacker!

BTW, I wouldn’t want the edit button to go away. Sometimes, either I or someone else spots something that needs fixing. Also, once or twice, late at night, in some far off country, I’ll post something, only to awake the next morning and have a Tom Cruise “Show Me the Money” moment.

Now, just close down Word, center yourself, take a deep breath, let the local paper thing drift away, and get your mind into ST, for crying out loud.

Best, Roger

PS: I have to get to work myself--busy week ahead.

"just close down Word,"
I hope that John, one of the faithful, has not sunk to using MS products. I know, I know, it happens to all of us, sometimes, (particularly in publishing, of all things) but keep that monkey on a leash!

I think we'll be waiting a while for a worthy substitute for Office...

Back on topic, has anyone really confirmed that deleting one's post will cause the thread to bump?
The reason I ask is because in order to delete one of your posts, you use the edit function.
Editing a post does not make it jump to the top of the page.
I'm pretty sure that someone is adding a post, and then immediately deleting it.
Eventually someone with a fast connection will catch the last post before it can be deleted.

Yikes! Sorry, guys. I was looking for a link I'd put in a Juan thread (about climbing in Greece)--although now I can't find that thread at all. And it looks like I took out an entry in another thread too. Good thing I'm not entrusted with that briefcase that contains launch codes!

I'll stay away from the buttons until I successfully complete the remedial ST certification course, and any assigned community service.

sorry to blow your cover, Festus.

Yes, Jaybro, I have converted to PC altogether, sad to say. It was all too bipolar, trying to do my engineering work on the PC and everything else on the Mac. So I just dumped the Mac. All those years as a Mac devotee...

Turns out, having to switch from FinalCut Pro to Premier for movie editing has been the only real drawback, though Premier is allright. Thank goodness for Adobe crossover products (InDesign, Photoshop, GoLive). Mostly I need the PC for ArcGIS and my tension fabric structure programs, not to mention basic stuff like Autocad and Rhinoceros. Skype is pretty good on the PC too, not sure if there's a mac version.

Still use Macs at the newspaper though, but they're still running OS 9 ! (for Pagemaker).

You can edit a post. you actually have to add something.
Then you can edit and delete. It will move the thread w/in short time to top of the page...

Deuce, oh well, it happens, hasn't gotten to me (at home) yet, at least. Was the "inspired by Yabo,'-forgot the name, movie, done with FCP? I really liked that one. No pagemaker for OSX?

Hardmann, I don't know about 'worthy,' imo office sucks donkey dick, but, we Are stuck with it; had to buy it to work with Globe/Pequot, sigh.

I am bumping them. It kind of gives me a little thrill. I wasn't getting enough gratification from the crayon drawings I was mucking up the forum with. Besides, nobody was paying attention to them anymore.
