Here is a worthy thread. In appreciation of your gentle tone and the clarity of your perspective. A wise prof. once told me: When you shout people turn away and cover their ears. When you speak softly people lean closer and listen.

Thanks for posting softly and for putting your positive energy into this forum.

Peace,

Jeremy

I look forward to meeting Karl at the Facelift in September. Not to mention a host of the other usual suspects, such as Fattrad.

Thanks for all the kind words. I'm honored to know so many of you.

It's been a tough period for our country and democracy and I've felt the pull to post more political stuff in the past 7 years than I used to. I'm sorry if it has alienated any potential friends because I know we all have our own perspectives and that good folks can disagree. I know the folks I fight with online would be friends offline.

but Dick Cheney, if you read this thread

moving it back to the front page....I have appreciated Karl's wise words on the world, the tone in which he manages to express his views, his photos, his offers of discounted prints to dirtbags, and his helpful beta here on the Taco. Such a great part of a wonderful community.

We also bumped into Karl and some friends last year on our first day of a week in the Valley, cragging at the Church Bowl. He could not have been more welcoming or friendly, despite our rather anonymous nature around here and fairly shy personalities. Of course he did snake the Lieback out from under us while we wandered around the base ;) Later on I led Revival, not a proud route but at least my first 10a lead in the Valley.

Karl, you seem to bring happiness and consciousness to the corners of the world you inhabit - well done.

Karl always exerts a calming and reasoned influence on ST and is definitely a person I'd be happy to rope up with anytime. The place wouldn't be the same without him.

Yep, it is always interesting to read and think about a Karl post. You seem like a pretty good guy. I look forward to meeting you in person some day, or at least figuring out who you are if we have already met.

Peace

I don't know how he does it. Always a calm voice of reason. Be it about specific climbs, climbing styles/ethics, or the political messes we find ourselves in, Ambassador Baba always plays in key and hits the correct passing notes.

Thanks for playing Karl, I always look forward to hearing what you have to offer.
