Bread basket of the world is an old proud title of the San Quackeen Valley.

The fact is, it is in dire straits and there is no one to put out the flame on the torch of liberty, if we had one here, cuz no one has enough water.

Happy "Yobama Vistiting the Sweet Spot of California" Day!

We got Michelle, the First Lady at UCMerced's commencement once, and now Firebaugh and Banos get to hail the Chief.

I'm going to be serious and sappy all at once in this silly thread because it's valentine's day and I think I can get away with it... two years ago, Valentine's day was the second to last time I saw my boyfriend of 7 years before he had a heart attack and died while climbing down at the gunks a few weeks later. I graduated from vet school, lived in our house alone, and started my new career.

It was a long time before I considered dating again, and when I started, it always felt weird, awkward and pointless - it always felt like it was going to be too much work to get to know someone, to get to be friends, to just feel happy because they were around... even had a semi serious relationship that just never quite worked out because we just couldn't connect. It always felt like we were trying to force something that could have been but obviously wasn't there.

Fast forward to last September, when I finally got enough loose ends tied up to move out of the house, move out of the Adirondacks, take the happy memories and leave the sad behind, and get my ass out to Boulder.

Met a man here shortly thereafter. He's funny, he's passionate, he's smart, he's sweet, and yeah I'm still getting to know him but it just feels fun. Not awkward. Not like work. Definitely doesn't hurt that he makes amazing sushi and my number one man (Rocky the dog) loves him.

Happy Valentine's Day, nature... please don't get eaten by the sharks on your vacation and please come back to Boulder, because I'm hungry and I require sushi.

^^^^^^oh boy, after a cold day of skiing, I didn't think I could get more goose bumps, but, but, that just goose bumped me all up then just a warm halo 'round my heart! And I am not a very easily moved person!
Beautiful…and much happiness to you, and to both of you!

For the record, I am not married to survival, though I oftentimes warm various body parts on my husband and he sometimes fails to appreciate my loving attention.

I always said that it would be marvelous to finish a climb and find dinner waiting in the parking lot. He made this fantasy come true.

geeezus.... a guy hops on a plane to Florida to go chase sharks and then sh#t gets all serious.

Not only that MisterE is cheating on me! Sushi?!?!

I'm holed up in a Howard Johnson near the Tampa airport. What a pit. Though I did manage to find a six pack of Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA. That doesn't suck.

and oh yeah... since it was valentines day the first drink was free on Southwest. Sure am glad I didn't fly that f*#king Shamu plane.... lordy that would have been a scene.

Happy V-day bishes.... :-)

And crap... if I didn't know any better I'd think that someone drank half a bottle of sake.

i looked her in the eye.
she realized that i was giving
my last glance.

she looked back into my.
written in that stare
was the perfect exhaustion:
a well-lived life
culminating at just the
right moment.

there was nothing left within me,
except love.
and this love also had to go.

so i sent it to her
with my eyes.

now she housed it.
a worthy carrier of my love.

i don't doubt that she will
spend it well,
and then, one day,
give it unto some trusted clown,
and my love will ever live.
as will all love.
for it is matter, too.
and thus cannot be created nor destroyed.

the love that is here has always been here;
in constant volume it just flows
thru it's cycles like an accidental storm.

now, with that transmission executed,
and the void within me complete,
she moved on, and i
did what any respecting bag-of-chemicals would do:
began to weather stone.
