That's not much albacore there. I could eat all that just by myself. At least you are stocking up on yellowtail, my favorite! Can't wait!!!

it's not. it's just for a little variety. As this is a small event I can't do the hawaii order which is where the really good albacore (Tombo) comes from. The albacore we're getting is a frozen product and it's ok but not good enough to be a main course. their yellowtail is always really good.

I'm also going to get some albacore from trader joes. it's a lot less expensive and I'll be searing it and using my tataki sauce on it.

the above order was placed about 20 minutes ago. It arrives tomorrow. poor me, I have to do the taste test thing tomorrow night.

really too bad about the uni though.... not sure what to use the quail eggs for.

G_Gnome,
You guys are fine. Thanks for asking though. My kids have been camping from day 1 so they have seen it all before. They are kids so they are not going to know what you are doing anyways. Plus they will be off playing.

Nature,
We will opt out of the Sushi since it is last minute. It will just be fun to meet some new climbers. This trip will be some business, some fun. We always seem to do the Red Rocks, Bishop, Joshua Tree, Cochise trips with local friends, but it's always fun to meet other climbers from around the country.

Really sorry about that Nature. If you would have told us about the taste test we would have come early & saved you the trouble.
Hang in there I know it's hard. But on the way to becoming a hard man you got to do tough stuff.

Soulsurfer.... please find us. We would be able to take your wife climbing for sure.

Doug.... we have a giant Asian Mega Food store about 6 blocks from Jans home. There sushi fish is expensive but they do have Mackrel in the sealed plastic as well as other stuff. I have time to stop by if you need anything? Different kind of Roe? Urchin? They have it, in the small wooden boxes.

Nice map..... too

I'm scared to try their Urchin Roe. Hmm...

I really don't need anything.

but if you want Mackrel then get a package. It's way to fishy for my tastes and my skills are not that of Hajime who had a way to make even that fish taste yummy. He did the same with Nato. And with Nato I just make it look like I'm serving you boogers (which is about what it tastes like anyways)

I thought we were going climbing in the middle of the day. Are you bringing fish to the crag?

huh what? :-)

I get the fish tomorrow before noon.

I teach my last yoga class in Tucson at 9:15AM saturday morning.

my truck will be packed with fish and I will leave for Cochise from there. I should be at camp by 1PM. After a quick set up I'll begin food prep so when you midgits get back from the crag you can eat and eat and eat. oh... and drink.

OK, leaving at 2:30 today from San Diego. We will be in a white pathfinder with a 17' camper in tow. Is everyone camping at the Isle of ewe?
Hope the weather is as good as it is here in San Diego! Sunny skies & forcast for 70 today. Seems like Southern Az is always fair weather so I'm sure we will be fine. Take care and see ya late tonight.
