His music was as manic as his person.
A wonderful artist.

I once spoke with him on a radio talk show call-in.
He asked me what song I would like to hear.
I told Him "You're breakin' my heart"
He convinced the DJ to play it and he verbally "Bleeped" out the swear words throughout the song.
Seemed like a really cool cat.

Especially as performed by Fred Neil, who wrote the song.
I hope Fred made lots of money off it (it won a Grammy).

yeah harry and john lennon used to tear it up during that lost weekend down in l.a.

they got so wasted one night at a smothers brothers show that lennon walked out of the ladies room with a kotex on his head, someone took a picture, and he had to apologize to the world for it, then they heckled the smothers brothers all night,

can you imagine being heckled by lennon? what would would you say back?

nilsson was a bank programmer most of the time he was cutting albums, too insecure to quit the day job.

nilsson smeilschen is a classic, so is the hard to find first album,

i got some fred neil on right now, the bag i'm in.

the dolphins is a cool song, check out the tim buckley version.

fred would not be happy about the oil spill.

my favorite version of everybody's talkin is actually done by bj thomas.

Hey Doc, you have Aerial Ballet?

Fred's two main albums, particularly the one with Everybody's Talkin and
The Dolphins and The Bag I'm In, is really evocative for me. It takes me
back to scenes from way back, when you really had to look hard to find
music like "Folk Rock" instead of Top 40.

Sometimes I think it's not fair for someone to have a voice like that.

Jump Into The Fire was the tune we used to do at gigs.

What a bundle of variety that guy was!
