1)i am not a bigot

2)i have NEVER emailed the proprietor of any website to bitch and moan that i don't like what i find on their website, and in particular i would NEVER do that regarding any sort of public forum

3)i actually climb, on rocks no less, and i am not a danger to myself or others

if props are to be passed around, let me say that i think true props are due to anyone who can honestly proclaim all of the above.

also- all of the attention i get around here lately is really quite flattering (not), especially from all you pissed off conservative types, hope you are watching your blood pressure...

Bigot
Websters definition is "a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices"

Based on recent threads I'd have to say Matt definiteley qualifies.

fine, just you wait until there is a 'david appreciation thread'!
we will see who eats clean cheerios on that day, i tell you...

edit
and from encarta online:

BIGOT
intolerant person: somebody with strong opinions, especially on politics, religion, or ethnicity, who refuses to accept different views

i would argue that the above definitions are lacking, especially w/ respect to the common usage of the term 'bigot' in our society. for example, according to that definition, a minister who preaches racial equality for all human beings and "refuses to accept different views" from the KKK members in his community could be correctly refered to as a bigot. i am unimpressed. got anything else dave?

Hey Matt,

Since your #2 is obviously directed at me, here's a question for you:
Should the pic of the guy with his head completely blown off have been
simply ignored in your opinion? Beside the fact that Chris had personally
asked me
to let him know of such things?

BTW, I actually stuck up for you recently, you dumbsh#t. Think for a sec.

Here's another question for you:

Have you ever made attacks on people while posting anonymously on Supertopo?
People who had no idea who you were––that you had easy access to in RL?

Do you really want to continue playing this game?

Hey Matt,
Since your #2 is obviously directed at me,

i never suggested that you personally, or anyone else, were whining to ST about that or anything else. how should i know who does that sort of thing?

i was just commenting that i think props are in order for everyone who doesn't need to run to the teacher when some other kid cuts in line for the slide, that's all.

edit-
i just saw where you copped to that in another thread, but i was just commenting in general when i wrote those comments above. kind of ironic i suppose, but i'd suggest that chris would rather climb than moderate, and i think the self-police-ing works just fine around here.

I have appreciated a lot of Matt's posts and have met him in person and found him to be a good guy. I'd rope up with him anytime.

If I didn't already have a sense about him, I might be more judgmental about his recent fueding. My idea is that he's got enough heart to be troubled by what's going on in Iraq and is vulnerable to taking out on the only outlet he can reach, those who support Bush and that War.

Anger attracts anger, that's why it's open Matt season these days.

He's a smart guy. He'll find his way through this, even if our country doesn't.

Peace

Your character judgement is pretty screwed up. How in the hell do you keep getting accolades on this site with stupid endorsements like that of the resident psycho? Oh, he cares about innocents dying so give him a break? Shut up crybaby! All of us care, it is just that some of us actually know who is really doing it while you and that psycho Matt insist on blaming Bush and the governement for all things evil. What a couple of clowns.

actually mikey, i blame idiots like you that blindly support bush and every policy he proposes, more than i blame the man himself. if there were no idiots to follow him and cheer him on, then he would be far less of a danger to the world and to this country.

remember when republicans were all about being fiscally responsible?
remember when bush was going to unite us and not divide us?
remember when the president was going to return dignity to the office?

what a laugh.
cheers.

I'm sure that if I knew you, anonymous dude, that I would feel your humanity better as well. Since I don't know you, I don't see anything different in your last post than the very worst I've seen from Matt. On the other hand, he's contributed facts, links and yes, even climbing beta.

But who knows? Maybe you have alternate personalities here that do something besides whine and bitch. As it stands, I would consider you tied for last in making valuable or even funny contributions here at supertopo.

Having conservative views is valid in my mind. Being an ignorant, anonymous troll is a waste of your time. Grow up.

Spot on Karl. Perhaps because I know Matt personally, this whole Fattrad/Howweird/Moron/Matt back and forth is just too damned funny. No matter what my political views may be, Matt gets props for continually posting links to thought-provoking material, sticking to his guns and supporting his arguments. That is how you to prove a point, no matter which side of the political aisle you are on.

If you're going to argue, then you would be better served by making a contradictory argument and backing it up, rather than posting empty ad hominem attacks.

I will say this though. I have yet to find a better way to entertain myself at work than surfing Supertopo.com. What a recipe for success! Take a bushel of climbing beta, mix in all manner of posts from climbing legends and local climbers, add a dash of petty flaming on the side and mix well... Delicious and hilarious. I'm sure it doesn't hurt business, and I think Chris has a good thing going here.

As for the post above attacking Karl, I would suggest that Karl is an consistent voice of moderation in this forum, and personally attacking Karl because he gave an honest opinion about Matt that you disagree with makes you look like, well, a bit of a Moron.

Cheers,
ct

Hey Matt,
Thinking about who in this forumn really supports this war and Prez.
I believe theres only a few, Jody and Fatrad (both cops, coincidence?? I think not) and Michael Moron? Anyone else? Maybe we need a poll? Maybe I'm wrong?
For the rest (large percentage) we all know this is a senseless war and the Prez is a moron ect ect..

WSJ has a wealth of well-reported information, as long as you keep in mind that it is the unofficial propaganda organ of the corporate wing of the American right, and is about as credible on political issues as Pravda. You are unlikely to encounter any outright lies (unless they are simply repeated from a government source without comment - common tactic); it's more in the editorial decisions. You will read all the news that's fit to support the corporate agenda.

The Economist is good. They are shameless capitalists, but at least they are upfront about it, and, being English, they don't have to pander to bigots and religious fanatics to keep their party together. But again, stories are selected, and presented from a perspective, which supports their pro-business agenda.

Fattrad: "GWB is not very eloquent...". Wow, what an understatement.

BTW, guy, I asked you on the 'investment' thread what your line of work is. It seems to me that you are an LEO, a financial 'adviser' (or something) and also involved in politics or something. Another Wow, that's a lot, how do you find time for climbing and posting here? Just curious.

Of course, you could have one line of work, I just don't know what line. As for me, I have been a journalist for over 32 years in five countries (yes, even the US), but for the past ten years I have been trying to make it as an actor. Not easy, especially in Ireland. I guess I'll be LA bound soon to pursue my acting career, seeing as how I turned down a very good videojournalist job with CNN to pursue acting back in August 1994 when I was back at my alma mater (Cal State Hayward) working on my masters.

Like for like - I told you now maybe you can fess up about what appears to be a multiple career (and I am sure that has nothing to do with multiple personalities).

Edit

I just saw your post to Bilbo. So you work in financial services, as your e-mail address suggests. But how do you just 'dabble' as a cop? And what about all those shoulders you rub in the political world?
