Saturday Aug. 28th at the Snowshed area on Donner Summit. I was around the corner and somebody had yelled up to a group of us that there was an accident. We went running down to help. One guy fell atop his belayer (not sure if the other guy was trying to catch him or not). The belayer had a bloody face and a nice bump on his head, but otherwise appeared to be okay. The guy falling looked as if he had dislocated his left arm and may have fractured his back. They were transported to Washoe Hospital both. Would love to hear how they fell and what exactly happened to the guy falling if anyone knows. Best I could picture is that they were near the base of the 5.11c arete (forget the name of the climb) and one had fallen before getting the first bolt (I didn't think it was that high).

Snowshead has seen some bad accidents over the years. 11c arete could be little feet on the east face.
I hope these climbers are OK
I remeber a young girl took a whipper off Nova Express years ago. Compund fracures of both legs. They had to dig the dirt out of the bone ends. I met her a few years later-all healed and working as a waitress.

Jody I never heard about that one but know of at least a couple more on Nova Exp.- tough route. I am sure there have been a few more in recent years-I'm suprised more "gym" climbers haven't cratered on that climb as it is only 5.9 (yeah right)
The rescue crew for Donner Summit is usually from the Soada Springs fire station and they are the absolute best!!!!!

Sounds like the 5.10 direct start to devaluation-tough to protect with an inevitable ground fall

So here is the story I had heard. They were climbing Composure(or near composure). The leader fell low on the route, decked and continued on down into the hole that drops down to the base of Molar, taking his belayer with him.

this was posted on RC.com
"I know this first hand as one of the climbers injured is a very good friend of mine. The two climbers are all-right all things considered. The guy who was spotting was just banged up pretty good, no hospital visit required. The second guy was medi-vaced to Washoe with a couple broken bones and two compressed discs in his back but is doing fine."
