While I generally agree with Matt's politics, and I think the war is an important enough issue to post off-topic at Supertopo, I think it's counter-productive to jam the stuff in threads that not only are not about politics, but aren't going off on a related political tangent even.

and I doubt Matt would be filling this thread in such a way if it weren't Jody's thread.

So I'm crying foul here and not just because I post to photo threads.

The folks who are against the war are already against it. They will read the political threads if they choose.

The ones for the war will not be convinced or persuaded by pestering, annoying or badgering.

Peace

Matt, I don't disagree with your views, but this is not the venue for the method you chose to express them.

Can somebody press a delete button for this thread?

I have participated in some pretty heated political exchanges here in the past. But the offensive picture should be pulled.

Lately I don't even open the political threads (son exceptions of course) and I frequent this site as an escape from the real world. I wouldn't even open a Jody thread that was related to politics. I don't agree with Jody on politics but here the common bond is climbing. Jody has some very good photos of my beloved sierra.

Matt your tactics are offensive (although so is the sacrifice of human life). Pull the photo and resort to other means to prove your point.

Matt, your such a jackass for posting that crap in this thread.
Why should anyone listen to anything an idiot like you says?
Can't you put politics aside for one minute?
Why don't you stop acting like a bratty 5 year old...

Matt I also don't disagree with your views, but we should keep the politics to the political threads. I have friends that I disagree with their political views and can still have good conversations about things that we have in common.
Yes I think that Jody is a tin hat winger.
But I also think that he is an amazing photographer.
So in political threads I'll flame him all day, but when he posts such beautiful photos I cannot help but be amazed. Of all the things the people on this site disagree with each other on, we should at least be able to take a break from our politics to admire the mountains together.
Thanks for posting the Photos Jody.

Anonymous ignorant behaviour should not be confused with chutzpah Ouch.
Though I don't know why I'd expect you to differentiate.

That wasn't very nice. Everyone cannot possess your superior moral and intellectual qualities. Balls is in the eye of the beholder.

Scenario: Somebody posts some pictures. Somebody posts some more. Instead of choosing what to view and excercising the scroller finger, the thread fills up with outrage, obscuring the entire content.

From the good book. "Verily I say unto ye, when he had journeyed down into the vally and heard Chicken Little warning of that to come, he beheld the flock worshipping stone idols and making burnt offerings of a pungent weed. And the flock told Chicken Little to shut the f*#k up and he became silent and the flock knew not the time of the sky falling."

the internet is not a democratic institution, so i guess the picture stays. it does, after all, kind of fit in, what with the reflection of a father's face in that of his dead son...

here it is again, did you really get a good look?
it's truely a reflection, after all...

I think Matt's picture is appropriate for this thread, because it is really easy for Americans to sit back and enjoy beautiful surroundings while a war kills thousands of innocent human beings. Remember WE ARE PAYING FOR THE MURDER OF INNOCENT PEOPLE AND IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO STOP THE BLOODBATH!!!! My vote, leave the picture.

my point exactly, thank you very much.

why should a vocal supporter of this war be allowed to choose when he has to deal w/ it? i guarantee you that the families of those who have lost their lives don't get to choose when they have to deal w/ it.

If I remember correctly, Matt did delete all but one of his posts in this thread. I guess that's a compromise I can live with. Arguing about it more just wastes bandwidth and makes it more of an issue than it needs to be. It's true that we're at war and, even if we don't notice it, it's a part of our lives that's important.

Here's more
