I've been listening to Steve for over 20 years now.

He definitely has his own greasy grungy groovy style.

For some reason, I thought of Kath when he popped into my head today.

Any takers for the Steve fan club?
What's your favorite tune of his?

Here's one of mine....of many.

Now we're talkin!
Steve's read of the Lowell George classic "Willin'" reminds me of hitchin' across the west and the freight train home.
This man brings it!
He's been backed by everybody that was ever anybody. If you want a real treat, check out "Together at the BlueBird Cafe". Steve, Guy Clark, and Townes Van Zant combine for an unforgettable album.

One of the coolest things I saw back east was David Lindley and Leo Kottke playing together in a club in Arlington.

David Lindley at one point started jamming on this weird Turkish oud type thing. He played all these funky middle eastern scales and riffs and little grooves. Then I start hearing something familiar floating through and trickling around. I looked at my wife and said, "holy sh*t hon, he's gonna play Copperhead Road!!" And sure enough, he did. It was like a feckin' cozmic treat, just for me!

I couldn't find that obscurity on Youtube, but this will do.

Lindley is playing Bishop in a few weeks. I shouldn't say anything because I haven't got a ticket yet.

Also, I just started with Justin Townes Earle on you tube. He's got some good tunes of his own.

This is the one that he took so much heat for, writing a song from John Walker's point of view.

As Steve said, "I'm a patriot, it's just that I've never worn red, white and blue very well...."
