Wish I had taken a picture up on the PO wall, hanging off a completely rusted SMC 1/4incher with a hanger that was completely snapped on one side...so you mostly just hook the rotten half shred of steel with a biner and the thing totaly flexes back and forth with every breath and any movement! It's the gnar'est bolt I've ever seen...I wish I had known what I was doing with the drill to in order replace it.

Anybody got a pick of that piece of sh#t thing?

Chiloe, where was that? Sea water corrosion? Or something else?

Stress corrosion cracking of stainless steel in a warm seacliff environment.
That particular anchor was about 100 feet above sea level, well within range of salt spray.

More details and discussion on an earlier thread.

Pulled this from Zodiac. My guess is it's more likely some gumbie got all irate trying to clean it and destroyed it rather than it failing in a fall.

Don't know the true story though...

The "tested" stamp is a good touch though.

Where are all those other alien failure pics? The one salmanizer posted doesn't look like the typical alien failure where the braze fails and cable pulls out of the head. On that one it looks like the cable itself is broken. Maybe they funked on it until the cable blew.

Yeah that hanger on the Hair Raiser sucks. Some f*#k head chopped the hanger and left it.

Anyone have a picture of the garage door handle on Twinkle Toes Traverse at The pinnacles?

My first multi-pitch climb.

6 minutes and locker gets a broken rubber up.

nuff said.

A block shifted on it. The broken dyneema sling was ol' john sherman's that broke on him under body weight. There's a whole writeup about that one, but just shows it probably got cut near the knot if I recall. The alien is uhh..... an alien. Probably from the recall. I'm not sure about the tcu, but it looks F'ed. The durango was pulled to failure (12.5kn). I'm just accumulating broken gear photos. To, uhhh.... inspire confidence.
