What are the polar opposite of these folks?

Climbing Lifers, it seems, may parallel coorporate executives or best be compared against PTA meetings. However, if we define a climber using words like Bold, Quiet, Strong, Rough, Self Sustaining, then the answer is obvious. I know this, because I have a foot in both ponds, as it were.

Yes, the internet gamer. (no thats not me)

No other group is as dependent on creature comforts or excel at such menial tasks as those that frequent the professional gaming circuit. From skinny white guys who think third base is supposed to happen when your thirty to retired IBM programmers who drive a Porsche to Frys Electronics for their daily workout, these guys crest the far right (or left?) of the spectrum, far opposite the denizens of Camp 4.

Some might argue that it is a total waste of time. Well, they are right. But heck, so is climbing, and these guys will probably not get as many injuries, excluding carpal tunnel syndrome and diabetes.

To some of you, Supertopo is your first forum. To many as well, the only one you frequent. I offer a different perspective. This is what a bunch of dudes (probably a girl or two, but as my buddy Lawmonk once said, 'there are no girls on the internet') between the ages of 15 to 25 have to say about Sarah Palin.

Do we need another post on Sarah Palin? Probably not. But heck, you will get a kick out of it.

And, not surprisingly, its 15 pages long.

GD:

But bot poles do share harboring people of "uber" skill that for most is somewhat esoteric.

I won ~$600 at a Counterstrike contest when I was 15 years old for 15th place. The winner got 100 grand.

I think the world cup winner for climbing got somethign to the tune of 10 grand.

Much of our programming is based upon our relationship with about forty other people living in the same shelter with us. We smell their cooking fires and listen to them sleeping at night. And we fear a movement of the ice. If our group is broken, we die.

Based upon that source code we are ill-equipped to deal with Paris Hilton and Karl Rove.

Climbing is a weird anomaly arising because we have not made an impossible cognitive leap.

What to do?

You missed the best one.

No one can use the canvas of a forum post like this artist.

You must be ten kinds of retarded. So let's ignore holes in the ozone layer, let's ignore melting ice caps, let's ignore climate changes that normally take a million years to occur happening in less than twenty, let's ignore all that. You're right, that's not long term evidence. Instead, let's all pray to God that He/She is Intelligent enough to Design us some gills so we can live like Kevin Costner in Waterworld.

Oh wait, I forgot, you're an expert in the field who has been out there researching it for twenty years and has the academic credentials to back up the data you present. What's that? You're a subscriber to an online game? My mistake, I always get the two mixed up.

Why don't you do the rest of us a favor and go dryhump a running X-ray machine.

Beautiful.
