Sounds good Jaybro. I'm half contemplating a road trip to see family in Aug and maybe come to one of the outings at the Voo. Been going to the local climbing gym trying after a 3 yr. hiatus to revive apathetic muscle...this barely pubescent climber chick saw my floundering on on a 5.10 route (Disclaimer: it was horribly placed route, silly feet and slippery, plastic holds), she preceded to cruise a 5.11 route next me and afterwards asked if I was "new" to climbing as I was standing in my worn 1992 5.10 originals climbing shoes and worn BD harness (circa '92). The nerve!!! So I said, "sorta"...then she preceded to give me a pep talk on how when you first start climbing (gym climbing mind you), it's really frustrating, but stick with it..it's really fun! I says, "yeah, you cruised that 5.11", "yeah" she say, "Well, I've been climbing for 3 yrs., so it's really easy now.." I just smiled and said "Thanks for the word of encouragment...". I guess this makes me a "born again Noob.." I might have to start a thread about this! Later and look forward to the "hit list".

That mid-August date is pretty good for me, but therein lies a big dilemma--go to the Boogaloo with the family, or head into the A-B wilderness to snag multi-pitch FA's.

I have been working on Pizza a la barbeque. Works great but not sure I have enough grill room. Maybe pre grill the crust(s) and do the topping onsite.
I would work on it more this weekend but I will be at RMNP
DOs are always ready.
Worked great last year with Goatgoy and others doing different meals at the same time. Something for (almost) everyone.

Roy
Whole wheat or just unbleached with Flax seed and corn meal for the crust?

Cool with me, let's get a head count, I didn't really 'get' where it is from the email. The one thing about the pay camp is that you can walk to everything, if this site shares that feature, it's way worth considering.

The benefit of going out to CR 700N is that it's spread out for more camping privacy and is only a mile away from the central area.

That spot you posted is always mobbed with other campers and is very cramped that's why it wasn't considered last year. I've stayed there before; it's just not as nice for camping as the original since the highway is only a few hundred feet away. It's also a favorite spot for the off-road crowd so can get very loud from the motorcycles and ATV's.

Since the Kingsbury's will be there for the duration I would be interested in hearing what Tom and Pat think. I'm open to all options but since I've stayed at both places, the original spot is much more enjoyable and provides a quieter setting.

From the way Eric is describing it, and for less confusion, I think I'd also prefer the quieter/original scenario.

B-Kiddo..As GB Smelz said. Vedauwoo does have several little creeks that flow to beaver ponds, but the beaver ponds aren't very pleasant to swim in. Very mucky with black oozy mud around the perimiters of the banks. Actually, there is a creek on the NE side of Turtle Rock trail with some small swimming holes, that I've seen kids playing in. In other words, if the kids aren't satisfied witht the creeks at V-woo, take them to Curt Gowdy and dunk them in the reservoir. Should be lots of rocks there to jump off too! Have fun!

The Kingsbury brothers just left Bozeman for Cooke City (work side trip), then on to the Boogaloo. T might have his crackberry with him, so have a good trip sirs and give a hello, with regrets, to Jaybro, Scuffy B, goatboy.., et al.--keep 'em safe.

The siding project is entering the "trim" phase, and I'm wrasslin' a few pebbles here and there, but I shore feel bad about missin' out on the festivites with y,all. I do get to celebrate my anniversary this year with realmojede, which makes it worth it, KWIM?

Stitch - From MountainProject.com (that Other site).

Hello Denver Climbers,

We have our meeting set up for August. Denver Climbers Coalition will be BBQ'n at West Lions Park in Golden, CO. The address is 1300 10th Ave. Lions Park West is just 5 blocks west of the American Mountaineering Center in downtown Golden (Washington and 10th). Head west on 10th, Clear Creek runs on your left, you will pass the fire station, museum, library and ball feilds Maple Street is the parks east border, keep going to the middle of the park, then we will be on your right. Parking is along 10th street.

Some food and beer will be available to get the festivities started but please bring one or two of your favorite dishes to share. For the adults of legall drinking age, we have recieved our Open Container Permit. There are a few simple guidelines for this event. We can enjoy beer and wine (permit does not cover hard liquor). All beverages must be consumed in a plastic or metal container, no glass allowed.

Feel free to arrive any time after 5:00pm We will start the meeting section at 6:45-7:00, try to arrive early to allow grilling and eating. I will be there at 4:30 to claim our turf. At 9:00 we have to finish our beer and wine and remove it from the park, we can stay and mingle till the park closes. For permit control, it is helpful if you let me know how many people you are bringing. Email me at denverclimbers@yahoo.com .

I'm thinking today was probably a choice day at Vedauwoo, too bad I'm over a thousand miles away...

A great trip in several ways: it's something, when your friends from different eras become friends themselves.

Hadn't spent that much time with McGee and Bill in decades. An honor to be Ed's Dante into the rings of the vedauwoo social/historic abyss. On top of that, was, spectacular, idiosyncratic, climbing, a new route (even if a few moves remain to go free on lead), too bad the timing and weather didn't translate into wider fun and interaction for more people; there's always next year, everyone is welcome!

Great to meet you, Museums, hope to hang more and climb together later. Great to hang with you ever more Brutus and Em, the road keeps going, looking forward to more adventures in the future.

photos and narrative to come, on this or a separate thread.
