Jody!
I think you are one of the most "real" people I know. What I see is what I get and that alway has impressed me. Plus, stepping up when I was in trouble... It shocked me into feeling better. Thank You.. Please always remember I highly valued it. Your act of kindness has made my life better.
Now when it comes to politics...
What can I say about being a democrat compared to your republican views? You must be the yang to my ying.
I think it is always good to have an opposite view point to bring balance to one's own.
Thanks Jody!
This site would be boring without you here.

Jody's a great guy, even if you disagree with his politics you gotta admit he's a genuinely nice guy. Takes a good pic too!

Cheers Jody.

"little harsh and immature" coming from Wes. LOL

Jody contributes greatly to the taco. If everyone here agreed on everything this place would be booooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring.

Yo Jode,
just got a call from Doc Killian who is moving his practise to Havasu this month so shooting and Kingman are in the offing.

While I'm only about 75% in line with Jody's political views, I still consider him a good friend. ;-)

I think it's really lame that people have to stoop to using Jody's job or religion against him.

Come on people, show some creativity for a change!

Personally, I think Jody is a great guy. He seems like a wonderful father, a very caring husband, a loving son, and he obviously does know what friendship means.

The fact that he has strong opinions and a slight :-) tendency to steamroll the opinions of others is not something new here on ST. So what? Yes, diplomacy is a virtue, but so is being passionate about the things you believe in. And with Jody, you always know where he stands on an issue. I like that, even if I don't always agree with him.

He's been single-handly responsible for posting some of the most amazing wilderness photos, and OPing several very interesting and touching threads.

Confrontational? Yep. But what the heck do most people tune into ST for? My little lovey-dovey animal threads? I don't think so! We want variety! We want to mix it up. I like being challenged to think, and get really clear on what I truly believe, what I'm willing to stake my life on. Jody has a wonderful habit of forcing the issue, and as long as things don't degenerate into name calling, I think he's a very good thing for this population as a whole.

He also has an incredible wife with one of the most beautiful names I've ever heard....I think she was named after an Atlantean Warrior Goddess or something like that.....;-0

Well I know Jody personally, hung out with him a few times, talk to him on the phone
at least once or twice a week. You can judge him for his taste in non-PC jokes,
and you can even choose to take such comments (trolls) seriously.

As far as bad mouthing cops goes, here's a good one:

SFPD calls CHP "AAA with guns"...

I told that to Jody and he thought it was funny.

But here's what's really funny:

Many years ago I sold several spot-news photos to the SF Examiner.
This involved listening to a scanner and responding to fires/accidents, ect
with camera. Needless to say, I heard many, many pursuits, some where SFPD
was involved, and some where CHP was involved. Invariably, the SFPD units were
hysterical and screaming into the radio, while the CHP units were very dispassionate
and professional. One memorable instance was a when a female CHP officer was the
lead car in a chase that went on for some time. Very conversationally, she said:

"Request permission to PIT the vehicle"...

Gotta love it!

Anyway, I use to hate cops too when I was a young punk. In any event, CHP ain't so
bad as far as cops go (understatement of the century - they're highly professional),
Ouch!'s endless, distasteful CHP-bashing cartoons knottwithstanding...

Hi Jody!

You've always seemed cool to me. I'm not saying I agree with you 100%, but I'm not saying I don't either.

Looking forward to meeting you if you're going to BlastFest.

DMT - I know that you are above the childish cop-bashing (and they know who they are).

I wasn't directing that at you - hell no.

Peace to all.

DMT just re-read this comment of yours:

But your first comment made it seem that the JodyCopBashing here was one-sided and it was NEVER that.

Please expound, if you would be so kind.

Look at many of the replies in this thread, or anytime a "Jody referendum" pops up here.

Now, my question is this:

Why do lines like "though I don't agree with most of his views"
or "though I don't agree with his politics" always come into play?

Who among you EVER inserts a qualifier like that when describing a friend, in conversation or in writing? Friendship and trust, and whether or not somebody is "a good guy" have nothing to do with that, at least in my world...and the world I think most of us live in. I'm lucky enough to have two brothers, and a whole bunch of friends, I know I can trust with my life or anything else. Some of them are Republicans, some are Dems, some right wing, some flaming lefties, and some I'm not sure about (politically speaking). Not once have I ever thought of any of them, or described any of them, using the "Well, I may not agree with his political views, but" phrase. It would absolutely never occur to me, and I doubt it does with you. You know who you can count on, and who you trust, and they earn your friendship in turn. We'd be a lot better served if we voted that way, instead of trying to find someone who agrees with us on each and every issue of the day--do you have any friends who could pass that test? WTF?! Is it even mathematically possible?

I don't know Jody, but I've emailed him a few scanner/photo questions over the years, and he always took the time to get right back to me with some helpful info. I got nothing else to go on that matters, so I suspect I'd like the guy if we met up somewhere, but until then who knows for sure?

Well see, once they are over 12 or so people don't have to agree on everything to be friends.

And to answer your second question, I have friends who I disagree violently with on politics, and religion too, but they are still great friends and climbing pals. I don't often use the polite qualifiers you mentioned. It's more like, "Your politics suck, but I like you anyway. Dumbass. Now climb!"
