You're really weird.
I know it appears that way to you. I find that our troops in a war-zone to be totally worthy of praise, whether you agree with the mission or not.
The dude was an effective deterrant to insurgents, and invaluable to defending our ground patrols.
Badass, in my book!

Kinda hard to get excited about killing 250 people in a country that wasn't threatening us and didn't attack us. Just happened to be on the other side of sunni/shia power struggles or didn't like Whitey invading the country
Soldiers get caught between government scum that sends them there so it's sad all around

Many to most of the "insurgents" in Faluja in particular and the Sunni triangle were NOT in their own country.
Saudis, Syrians, Egyptians, Chechens etc.

Sam Ybarra was a private in the United States' Tiger Force commando unit, assigned to the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. He was noted by the Stars and Stripes magazine as having recorded the 1000th kill of Operation Wheeler.
Worthy of praise?
No, was found cutting the throat of baby boy to get the kids necklace and that was just one of many: girls he raped, ears chopped off, elderly farmers blown away and basically killed for fun or the rush with other members of his fellow Tigers in 1968. Got out, was ask to testify of his actions, refused since he was a civilian, finally drank himself to death.
From this there was a lesson to be learned in future wars: one being Iraq. Seems it still goes on and everyone looks away. Plus it does not have to be in the military look at Blackwater that now goes by another name. CEO moved to UAE so not to be bothered by Congress for his actions.
Hey! Don’t get me wrong I support the troops, I boycott Starbucks since they do not; it is just the small incidents that war will do to you to act inhumane that are unacceptable.
Hope this guy makes it since he has his own company: Training, what he knows best.

Lol, snipers aren't the only "sick f*#ks" out there...try your local Paramedic or any medical worker at that. Riley, you'd think the same if you sat down and had lunch with me after I ran a cardiac arrest, a shooting, a OB/Gyn call, a GI bleed or any significant call, whether a trauma or medical. Morbid humor comes with the territory and we don't expect the lay-person to understand but welcome to your own backyard! The "annals of human stupidity" are what we call, "job security" in the field. If someone isn't sick or injured, I'm BORED! I spent seven month's out in the deserts of Iraq, next to the Euphrates, and it was the most boring campout of my life, Why? Because not too many were "sick or injured." Call me what you will.
One Iraq memory was being the third person of a sniper team as their Corpsman. We sat observing and providing security for a check point where a "bad guy" was being sought after in the ever popular, "white toyota" (too many of those over there). One of the snipers in the hide we occupied asked me, "How's your shootin' Doc?" "I can hold my own, why?" I responded. He proceeded to hand me his M-16, with his A-cog site attached, and said, "Put the cross-hairs on that Iraqi's chest. If he makes any kind of aggressive move toward one of our guys, put a bullet center mass. You think you can do that?" I did as he asked, put the cross hairs center mass, from about 100 yards, and waited. As I layed there, I thought, "I've never done this before but if I have to take the shot, at least I'd know how to treat the guy!" It was easy after that and I actually was hoping that I'd get the opportunity! Unfortunately, it never happened. Call me what you will but, as we say, "If you weren't there, then you have no idea."

...and now I can't help but to remember Jack Nicholson's famous lines while being questioned in the court room in the Hollywood movie A Few Good Men:
"I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it. I'd prefer you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post."

What appears to be missing by most lay comments is the realization that everyone in the military, volunteered to be "in the military" by putting their signature on the dotted line. They knew that one day they might have to put themselves into harm's way, whether they agree with the reason or not. It's part of their job, that's right, it's a job. If you're a sniper, you snipe, if you were a Seabee, you build things, if you were in the Motor-T division, you drove and fixed vehicles, etc. So, when I was over in Iraq, I was a Navy Corpsman, I helped people, and I had a "job" to do. I really didn't care "why" I was over there but I DID care about how I was going to get through seven months of "doing my job" without getting killed. The second priority was to COME HOME to my family! Those two things were my motivation. Listening to CNN or Wolf Blitzer only compounded the agony with their rhetoric, similar to the comments being made. It doesn't help the troops, it only hurts them.

It's madness to suggest that only military men can criticize the war because, of course, Military men aren't allowed to criticize the war. The armed Forces have zero say in where they are sent to kill and when they get to come home
We have to watch their backs and we failed badly in Iraq
