Enough of politics (for the moment anyway).
We're all yanks here, yes? Well more or less,
and who among us doesn't love Laurel and Hardy?
(Those that answer in the negative may as well turn in your citizenship cards right now, pinkos. heh)
All of us love a good laugh, so what's your favorite Laurel and Hardy short?
Love em all me. The film where they cart a player piano up and down a vertiginous flight of Los Angeles concrete steps ("The Music Box"; http://www.laurel-and-hardy.com/goodies/vid-down/download.html); is great (wasn't that one nominated for an Acedemy Award?) but for my money the one where they work in a lumberyard is possibly my favorite. Having worked in one helps tremendously. What's the title? oh bugger lemme go put it on......
(later.....barely able to type from laughing)
lolol....."Busy Bodies"; http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Boulevard/2870/pictures/jpg/busy_bodies.jpg
Great stuff. It appears Hardy did a great deal of his own stunts which is remarkable in itself, and when he yanks on that waterpipe dislodging an entire industrial sink that clobbers him right in thr noggin (how the hell did they pull that one off without killing him?!) is side-splitting.
I suppose the whole 'mis-matched buddy' comedy things finds it's origins in Vaudeville, but Laurel and Hardy refined it to an Art form, rest their souls (and they could use the rest!).

That's "The Music Box" Dirty.
How about that flight of steps, eh?
Makes that scene from The Exorcist look like a cakewalk.

A great deal of their films were it seems shot on location in Los Angeles. I'm just now realizing the opening shots from Busy Bodies was filmed on a street (I've forgotten the name of) in Beverly Hills just below Wilshire and I'll wager it still looks the same.
