Up here in the Great White North, Real Men portage their canoes. None of those wheely thingies. [Note: Some anglers do use dollies, but they are super heavy duty thangs made from motorcycle tires. Our portage trails have rocks up here, eh?]
I bet those are the very same Russian Aiders that Brutus loaned to me. Changed aid climbing for the better for me, that's for sure. I love 'em!
Nice to see Bruce has traded in his Big Bros for Valley Giants.
Oooh! Murphy's - my favourite!

That's not a garage door spring! That's one of those penis shield gadgets from New Guinea. The clip loops allow the natives a rousing but secure bivy in the canopy.
Addendum: Was there a bivy in your immediate future, Brutus, or were you as ever ready as you are ever Wyde?

I still owe Brutus of Wide a debt of gratitude for the beer we found back at the car after a wall that went on just a wee bit too long. Good man with a good heart. And here's to Nurse Ratchet too.

Great photos of great looking adventures. And now I know what Russian aiders are. And what better reason to climb the SS than to dance in your skivvies to the rising sun.

A cool guy with a quirky yet eloquent prose style. More broadly experienced than most realise. The only time I climbed with him and Nurse ratchet was the day we attempeted the unclimbed OW in the gym in Marin. He let me in on the secret. It stayed unfree after our attempt and I went back a few times and still never freed it, I hear they removed it. But we had a good time and a lot of laughs. Anyone out there, if you get the chance to climb with him/them it will be a time you'll always remember.

yeah, Jaybro, I don't think there very many more people that are so "widely" versed in climbing in all it's aspects, as well as its boating aspects. :)
