Okay, I called the Yosemite Stables (209-372-8348) and got the answers to the earlier post on how much it costs to have mules carry your stuff to the shoulder of Half Dome:
Mule (each) can carry up to 150 lb.
Need 2 week advance booking notice (phone number above).
Cost (one way) is $184 for the guide and $94 per mule.
Guide can lead up to 5 mules.

Not sure what the going rate is for your Camp 4 riff-raff, but I prefer the slog. Plus, with the moolah saved, I can have a nice dinner with the wife at the Ahwahnee (2 nights at the mule rate)!

Those are pretty standard horse packing prices throughout the Sierras FYI. We're hauling wine and beer ( among other things ) to Banner Peak this weekend as a matter of fact!

Another word on the HD rockfall...It pummeled the slabs and one of the boulders that had a fixed line attached to it is history.

i ascended the slabs (and the fixed lines) on 6/15/03 and we had fixed lies everywhere we needed them. this was a week or two after the rock fall in question. perhaps the anchor for that line has changed, but the song remains the same

daaaaaaaamn-
that approach was bad enough already.

freakin NPS- what the hell are they up to now? seems like they are having this "rock fall" garbage all over the place everywhere, every year, what the heck do our entrance fees go toward anyway? i don't need the bathrooms to be so clean, and i don't need the lanes so clearly delineated- i want my $ to go toward improving rock quality from now on, particularly on routes that i aspire to do, and over approach/descent areas that i plan to frequent... the park already has plenty of talus, enough is enough!

and next year keep the damn birds off the rostrum too!
