Just cause those guys threw in a few bolts for safety back in the day doesnt mean they didn't free it.

They did not do the route (Muir wall), which is the original line by TM and Yvon . They left the main upper corner and did a variation to the top. This has absolutly nothing to do with or without bolts.

Yep, Werner is right. Also, Rob told me that their route is actually a variation of The Shaft. It avoids a few of the chossy pitches on the headwall.... but, I will let the details be dictated by them. (just so, I don't step on any toes)

A lot of work has gone into the project. I'm sending the boys my best!!!

Thanks for the clairification Ammon

Yes, they did nice work up there and anyone that ever has tried one of these peojects knows how hard they are.

To free some of these walls at times one must look for the natural weakness to surmount the problem. Sometimes you can not take to the original line.

Thus they used the intelligent choice.

Does anyone happen to have an old, unwanted copy of the BD catalog that featured shots of these guys' climb? I lost mine a few years back and really found them inspiring. Thanks in advance.
