In case your summer climbing plans are still open, here's a little TR. We took a trip to Tensleep last week, and got in 2.5 days of climbing before getting rained out. For vertical to moderately overhanging limestone, the place is a paradise. The rock is very nicely pocketed, and solid. The bolts are in general closely spaced. There are tons of routes, but not much below 5.10. For 5.11 and 5.12, there are more routes than you can shake a stick at. You could easily spend 2 weeks and still be climbing only 4 and 5 star routes. Everyone, from ages 9 to 71, had a good time.

For camping, there are a number of free sites available along the old highway (WY 435). Having 3 cars, with a number of kids and dogs, we stayed at the forest service campground at the bottom of the canyon, close to the stream (kids and dogs wanted that). It's a perfectly nice campground, but not free.

Not to be missed is the hot springs at Thermopolis, an hour S. Has a 500 foot water slide, which is a lot of fun, especially if you have kids to amp up the enthusiasm level.

I'll add some photos in September.
