I have all day Friday and would like to do some climbing, have to drop my wife off at a construction site early near lompoc, then I got the day to climb and would prefer to stay within 30 minutes. I have enough gear to set up a TR solo or I can just boulder...
anyone wanna call me or email or post up some ideas? Thanks Yo!

Probably not within 30 minutes. There is some climbing/bouldering on the south base, but, might be a touch hard to get access...and you have to watch out for mojave green's (agressive little buggers). That's the closest to Lompoc I know of.

There's Silly Rock, but, if you're sans partner (and want to run into someone at random), you might have better luck driving down to Santa Barbara and trying Gibralter Rock, or, heading north to SLO to Bishop's Peak. Both places are pretty cool to pick around solo, and the views from each are neat too.

Say hi to the Hitchin' Post, AJ Spurs and Jocko's (Nipomo, great steaks) for me.

Rumor has you can get chisled brisket in SLO...

If you can't find any rock at Lompoc, try the Christopher Boyce Lompoc exercise program. Run all night, without a person in sight.

P Wall is NE face of Bishop's Peak. Five minute approach walk from the top of Hillcrest Drive (last stoplight, going north of town on Highway One).

"P Wall is NE face of Bishop's Peak. Five minute approach walk from the top of Hillcrest Drive" ???

Come on Tom, you're supposed to be the local knowledge! He is looking for solo toproping or bouldering. Cracked Wall would be much better, plus a shorter, easier approach. (P-Wall can only be only 5 minutes if you are in good shape and running.) Or recommend Clorissa and Pete boulders or Boulder in the Woods.

I don't mean to knock ya too much, though. It's really just that I miss the place and wish I could still climb there. The rock is excellent!

Come on Tom, you're supposed to be the local knowledge!

My lieyer says I can regain my status by claiming I was misquoted.

The facts, as originally intended, are that the bouldering boulder, low on the trail up to P-Wall, IS five minutes from the top of HIGHLAND DRIVE.

Wish I could go up to Bishop Peak tomorrow. We need some rock like that in Durango.
