Social climber

I'm not sure if he was a climber or not. I am sure he was friends with Billy Roos and Paul Sibley. I know him from the Grand Canyon, the first time I met him and he found out that I was a bud of Sibleys he gave me an old set of Colorado Nuts that he used to tie boats up with. Anyway just curious if anyone here knows him and how he is doing. The last time I saw him was at Lees Ferry in March of 04.

I know Nels, but I haven't seen him for a few years. Amazing man. Once he lent me his folder of Karakoram explorations--an incredible collection of documents. Last I heard Nels was doing explorations in Greenland.

His son, Lars Niemi, once was working at Humphrey's Summit shop in Flagstaff. Mayb you can track him down there.
