Last weekend I was lowering my wife on the Right Peyote Crack at Jtree when she got stuck half way down.
I leaned over and looked to see what the hang up was.
I was sitting at the top of the climb and I looked into the notorious rope eating crack to see my rope parted and completely frayed.
For a second my heart began to race then I realized I was looking at an IDENTICALLY colored rope that someone had cut or was otherwise parted and jammed deep into the crack.
I saw that my rope was just above it and looped over a knob.

Karin took her weight on the low angled mid-section and I fixed the problem and lowered her safely to the ground.
Just a reminder that it's hard to always be prepared for the unexpected.
