Poland. We haven’t been to Poland in Winter since 1993.

Are you on the “road” now?

Squamish. We drove -- okay, took ferries -- down to S'quish for a couple of days to visit old friends on the two days before xmas. Loads of snow.

Moose! Since you are visiting your original home in winter, maybe the "travel-shamers" of ST, will let this trip slide.

I sure hope so.

Have a great time!

Fritz, to make my carbon footprint smaller, I was planning a bike trip. The wife refused to give me a ride, unfortunately.

Layover in Kopenhagen now.

I just got back from Egypt and it was wonderful. Nice to be in a country that is mentioned in the Bible during Christmas. They celebrate it there to an extent I didn't really expect.

John, do any birding or was it all about dead people?

We did do some birding on the Nile on the way to the Nubian Village. It's a standard tour, the dead people, a cruise, more dead people Karnak, Luxor, Abu Simbel and Aswan.

Yeah, I figure that even if we go on a dead people tour I can see plenty of boids if I can force myself outta bed early enough. But I’ve also found boiding tours that offer both. On the other hand the good dead people tours offer real live archaeologists and there is only one Egypt. Also we would extend on our own to spend a few extra days in Alexandria where La Femme went to school. That is prime boiding and I could hire somebody there for a couple days probably.

It's a really good time to go. The tours both Egypt and Turkey are under a hondo a day. I couldn't go leaf peeping in Vermont on that.

One of the big Pyramids had a shaft open up to the Sarcophagus. It's through a really tight shaft and you're in a strange position going up the cleats. I loved it.

Unbelayed? Whoa! La Femme has been to the top of the Great Pyramid, back when it was
still legal. Her dad carved his name up there when he was a kid!

I would love to sail on a felucca! Saw a boat of about 30’ that came out of a tomb (it was here on a traveling exhibit) that was really well made in terms of design and woodworking.

You would probably like the camel ride too. We were really lucky, went to the oldest monastery in Christendom on a special day. The Pope of the Coptic Church was there as well as Generals etc. Not sure whether to call what I heard chanting or singing but it was amazing. Camel ride up and down to it.
