Is there a recently updated topo or description of the Turret Rappel route off the top of Ho Chi Minn Trail? I've been up DNB and North Buttress. Never been up the Ho. Familiar with the terrain. It looks like a bunch of features that might have super sketchy slings - is that the case?
The slings could be old in places, so just bring some webbing, right?
The topo in the guidebook is good.
The trickiest part is off the left end of Tree Ledge.
You have to find the right tree to rap from,
and you go down a steep wall, aiming for a tree in an offwidth.
My son climbed the Ho a few weeks ago and descended via the Katwalk - it's simpler if you are up there in daylight.
The Turret rap route is mainly a way to bail out if you are too tired when you reach the Turret and don't want to do the last 4 pitches.
