thanks for the update ed. Haven't been to the valley for a while so I didn't know when exactly the change happened.

it had become known to the larger traveling public, including local RV referrals when other places were full. Instead of being a place to throw down a sleeping bag and catch a night's sleep, it started to be used as a campground, which it was not.

The issues with human waste was certainly a problem, there were no facilities at all, and basically any and every conceivable place was used.

It was a good deal while it was available.

ed-- i'm not sure your explanation is correct-- if you go into the sandlot now, you'll see that they are storing dramatically more stuff there than before-- many more piles of rocks and such, much less empty space.

they've piled stuff up before, it ebbs and flows, but I believe that we had hints that they were going to close off the access, Bullwinkle certainly had some information about the impending closure.

This isn't business as normal as far as I can see.

But I'm only making inferences here...
and looking for other bivy spots.

Looks like we may have to bivy inside the park now. The sandlot was a great way to keep the dirtbags out of the park in the winter months.

Man, end of an era.

Launching pad for anybody who frequented the valley. The best of the best would be seen there.

We had hand drilling contests in the rubble, parties at the river, and nights filled with stories of adventure and mayhem.

I remember after a wall I was so worked I woke up at 2 pm, Crawled out of my truck to a dozen bikini clad college girls finishing a rafting trip for the day.

Never forget that after 5 days of pain. What dreams are made of.

Adios.

Been that way for months, before the winter, its closing just made the vanlyfe at the road just before the incline at Yosemite View Lodge even larger and more ridiculous. Seems as though they're not even trying to manage the huge numbers of vehicles on the side of the road there.

It's gotten much quieter recently, not sure if that's because there's been crackdowns that I haven't come in contact with, or if people have moved on for the winter. (Although should probably be called a "winter" considering how warms it's been on the daily)
