Just checking, but is there a reliable source of water up above Yosemite falls and not too far from Yosemite Point? My guess is no, but I am not familar with the area (other than looking on topo maps). Going to be up there in less than a week.

Yosemite Creek. If you are doing Lost Arrow Tip, you can get water from
the creek. It's not far from the creek crossing to Yosemite Point.

So Clint, I take it the Creek will be flowing or at least have pools of water available?

Yes, we will be doing the tip and would rather not haul water if possible.

edit; the Yosemite falls cam looks pretty dry to me, but perhaps it's just down to a trickle?

It rained some last Thursday, so there should be some fresh water in the creek.

From the base of the Arrow, you rap down to the creek (or at least that's what I did while my buddy soloed the first pitch).

^^^^When they said they wanted to make Hetch Hetchy like Yosemite Valley, I don't think that is what they had in mind... but at least there will be water!

Looks scary real at first glance Cosmic

There are some hand cracks in it. You will have to deal with some seepage though.. heh heh.

I seem to recall a rain puddle at the top of YBP when Hemming and I did it in '53, but I'm afraid we drank it all. Sorry.

I was up at the rim Sunday and the falls were down to a tiny trickle. We stopped just short of the creek, but I'd guess I'd want a pretty good water filter for whatever slow moving pools might be found above the falls.

Descend via Indian Canyon, water or not.

^^^^^^^Really. It does look pretty cool, but this isn't "my" trip so to speak and on this choice I'll follow our fearless leader. I'll probably have to save this for a future trip so thanks!

I think BIOTCH saying to descend Indian Canyon is a sandbag and a half. Don't do that unless you are looking to add more adventure to your climb. Indian Canyon is a gritty bushwhack and you need to know where you are going toward's the bottom to make sure you find the metal ladders (Left side as you go down)....take the falls trail!
