For 31 years the Himalayan Fair has celebrated the people and the cultures of the Himalayas. All funds we have raised have gone to support grassroots organizations that traditionally do not draw large donations. This year, especially, our concern is focused on those affected by the devastating earthquake in Nepal. We will be hosting a Nepali prayer offering for the people of the region each day of the fair and will provide space for the sharing of experiences by the many in our community who have been affected.

We are hoping for a great turnout at this year’s fair, May 16th and 17th, in Berkeley’s Live Oak Park. Please join us for two days of music, dance, arts and artifacts from Himalayan regions and for delicious food. We ask that the generous Bay Area community support our fundraising efforts for earthquake relief and recovery. Raffle tickets sold at the fair will send a lucky winner round-trip to Delhi, courtesy of Emirates Airline, and it is our sincere wish that raffle proceeds will be abundant, so that we can contribute substantially to the organizations providing critical services to those affected. Organizations that we plan to support include the Seva Foundation, American Nepal Medical Foundation, Sahayeta, Nepal Freed and Virtue’s Children Nepal.
