Tamara: Thank you for sharing the obit. Reads like Clyde lived a grand life. It was a great era to live and have adventures like he experienced.

Quite a character, I remember his scene at EL Portal and his bird carvings. Last time I saw Jani was in a cafe in Moab a hundred years ago. Clyde and Jani were part of a very early migration flow to the SW. Please pass on my condolences to her.

I was in Yosemite the same years he was, but somehow never knew him. I must have seen him push off the firefall when I was up there, but don't remember him for that either. I do remember Jani Roper and always wondered what happened to her. I'm glad that the two of them together had many years and adventures. Truly a well lived life.

hey there say, tamara... i was not in yosemite, at those times, and do not know many folks that hung-out there, but i wish to give you my condolences to you and his family and loved ones, and good buddies, with all my heart...

thanks for sharing, so folks can know of this and attend...

i'd love to hear someone share more about his bird carvings... i had an aunt that had made duck carvings, back in her day, before she died...

the sad time of missing him...

Just a reminder to anyone who might be interested in coming to Moab for Clyde's memorial garden party on Saturday the 4th.... starts around 5 pm (punctuality is NOT a common phenomenon in Moab.... or climbers.... ;) )

'tis a potluck, but if traveling here for the party please don't stress over bringing something - there will be copious amounts of eats I'm sure.

Jani's looking forward to hearing memories of Clyde.... or anything related....

Please let me know on this thread or in a PM if you're likely to show up!

Thanks

I remember Clyde from C4 in my early days there. He seemed to be more well-rounded, more open-minded, more broad-reaching than we who focused more intently on climbing. I wish I'd have known him better. Yes, a well-lived life! I'm so pleased to learn that Clyde and Jani made their lives together! Sincere condolences to friends and family...
