Troublemaker! While I expect this to be a rather thin thread, I changed my view on climate change based on information Chiloe supplied me on this forum.

The Larry's logo is slightly interesting; I wonder if there was a prior version that had just "weed legalization" instead of "worldwide weed legalization" (the "worldwide" just has a strange ring to it, and sounds a little anachronistic to someone living in Colorado!).

Who knows why people change their mind, but quickly changing public opinions on things like "weed legalization," gay marriage, and other issues are real.

Sorry some of you guys get butt hurt that others here like to discuss current events or court decisions or science and public poicy, whatever, but I don't think it's going to stop unless CMac stops it.

I'm pretty impressionable. I tend to vote for whichever candidate has the best commercials...especially if it involves a catchy jingle.

My opinions change but never the fact that I am right.

The internet has made Americans dumber and more opinionated.

Humans have this genetic need for "us vs. them" drama. This need for conflict probably served some purpose when humans lived in tribes and competed for a limited number of woolly mammoths. It was an essential ingredient to our success as the dominant species and it will be an essential ingredient to our demise.

One of the more intelligent posts about politics and religion.

I have absolutely changed my mind by reading new information and ideas as well as listening to other people's arguments.

'Core Beliefs'?

Nah, they haven't really changed. But I've learned lots from people with supposedly conflicting core beliefs.

While I cannot say that my mind has been changed on much opt anything, but over time all things change, so it's not like it's a big deal or anything...

What the internet has done is make me consider other points of view from more than just an outside viewer perspective...

For instance, when I started climbing around '95 I thought I was pretty much anti gun for any reason. But then my family was into guns for years as well, I suppose in my youth I'd never felt the need to master-bate with firearms.

But then I heard a dude give a different take on the entire hunting scene. His name is Steve Renela (sp?) and I heard him on The Joe Rogan Experience. Totally changed my perspective on the hunting scene. Even provided me with a tiny bit of pride over my brother being a bow hunter...

Unfortunately, this new found understanding of the hunting game does nothing to turn shameless stuffed ram and dear heads on the walls of his home in Ca.... (In my world, if you don't have enough room in your home to properly display your proud kills, then it cheapens the entire hunting thing for me.... IDK... just doesn't remind me of the classier things I've had the privilege to witnessing in my life)

So, I can safely say that I no longer view the hunting public as I did in my youth with over the top disdain. I view hunting for what it is Dudes with guns and arrows going out killing animals. All the justifications are great and they do tend to cover the simpler questions about the ethics of imposing death upon animals of the earth. So go ahead and hunt. I Have no problem with it. It's a form of entertainment that, though I cannot take up at this age and in this condition, I can say I understand a little more, and so have changed from a anti-gun-nut-nut, to a "don't give a shit" about how some men and women yank themselves in the wilderness. This over course does not mean that if I see a gun nut who I feel needs to be told they are doing it wrong....

The religion may never have been there to begin with, so the topi had nothing to do with that. But that too has only been solidified with how many people all around me who know there is no god.

Most everything else I find most (if not all) agree with me most (if not all) the time.

Honestly, just thinking about this post has changed my mind about something.....

Maybe I would be better off leaving...

Not much but it has raised my compassion level.

When I find out that the climber I admire has THAT viewpoint, it gives me pause. I have changed my mind and decided that I can accept others who have views that oppose mine.
