Did anyone climb/ski the Dana couloir over Memorial Day weekend? If so, how were the conditions?

Does anybody know what the ice climbing conditions on Dana Couloir are at the moment? A few of us are thinking of heading up there this weekend.

Does anybody know if it has snowed much the last few weeks in the peaks above Tuolumne Meadows?

3 inches at Mammoth Mountain. The real question is how much of it has melted off by now (October 22nd)?

Just came down from Tioga Pk and was in snow 90% of the way up from Gardisky Lk. It was mostly just a few inches with short drifted sections of over a foot. The Dana Plateau was white as was the couloir. The approach looked nasty with a little bit of snow over the talus.
Prior to this last couple of storms the couloir was grey ice with the top couple hundred feet melted out.

Only speaking from rumor, but my understanding is that the couloir melted out months ago, no ice, no snow, just choss

The last time I got a look at it, about a month ago, it looked very similar to the last sentence of my Oct. post of a year ago. Gray/black ice with the top 1/3 melted out.

That's really sad news.
Early October used to be the best time to climb both Dana and U-Notch couloirs.
And you had the mountains pretty much to yourself. Clear weather. A semblance of a Real Alpine trip.

A couple got pounded by falling rocks while climbing the couloir about 5 days ago. Broken hands, shattered helmets and a flight out to the Mammoth Hospital.

Lucky.
