For anyone that knows the layout of Squamish, I was wondering if a person happened to acquire a sailboat in say, western WA, and the skills to navigate such a thing (or a friend that has the skills and boat), is it feasible to get around without a car? (Assuming we don't go lost at sea before arriving to Squamish.)
I've never been to Squamish, but the theory is stay on the boat as near as possible to the climbing, and get to the climbs without a car. Is this the realm of fantasy?
Thanks.

What about the part about getting around to the various crags at Squamish from a boat base camp, without a car? Is that part also reasonable?

I've had friends in the past sail from Bellingham to Squamish and climb. It is very reasonable. Just a bit more walking really.
Have a great trip!

There is a dock in Squamish so you would need to pay whatever mooring fees there, otherwise you'd need to find a way from your boat to shore each morning and evening.
But yes the climbing is close enough to Howe Sound, a bicycle might help.

You could also easily do some Fa's on the sea cliffs with a setup like that!
There is lots of climbing well within walking distance from town, very bikable and of you were feeling really lazy, a cab to the chief would be fairly inexpensive.
Sounds like a killer trip!

I've got a good climber buddy who lives on a sailboat in Squamish. Really sweet set up - a bike will definitely help. A quick sail in Howe Sound is a great way to finish up a day of climbing granite walls.

Several folks didn't have cars or bikes when I was there, but they were camped at the campground. I lent a few of them my bike to get into town for supplies. I suspect it is even better now with the new Olympic class highway.

Thanks a bunch for the info folks. Got three weeks starting in July, and am really psyched to accomplish my 25 year goal of climbing at Squamish. Getting there by boat just seems like a cool thing to do.

It will be critical to Pre-arrange moorage before you depart as there is zero availability. Contact the Squamish Harbour master or the Squamish Yacht Club or Blue Heron marina.
Just tossing the hook in the harbour is possible between the Blue Heron and the yacht club, as long as a lot of other boats are not doing the same.
Right now, free Dockspace appears to be nonexistent, but summer time sublet may be possible
