Yesterday, while Nate and I rappelled El Cap in preparation for a free attempt on Freerider, we removed the death block from the monster offwidth. Two friends, who were also rapping Freerider, cleared out everyone in the danger zone so we could safely cut the block loose.

Nate cut a single strand of 8mm dyneema with the flick of a small pen knife, and the rest of the slings fell off as the block sailed down the side of the captain. No one was injured during the operation.

Excellent work. I can't believe that time bomb has been sitting up there for so many years. Looks like most of the debris landed between The Slack and the start of Dihedral Wall?

Sweet! About time someone took care of that thing. Not surprised the guy who fixed up the EL descent with new ropes took care of this thing too.

Fun vid too! Glad you took the time to post. Hope we see you here a little more often.

MH has been telling all kinds of stories about you..better keep an eye on him
