Atlanta got hosed on the infield fly rule call in the bottom of the 8th vs. St. Louis.

Ridiculous call. I don't blame the fans one bit for raising hell. I hope the ump felt humiliated during the delay. The Braves got robbed on that one.

Atlanta fans should be ashamed! 3 errors. Lucky they didn't just stop the game and forfeit.
Goodbye Chipper! Thanks for the great career!
Go Giants!

Please don't read my post. Read, and then re-read Farouk's post. That's all one needs to know about tonight's events in Hotlanta. Farouk = Truth. Word.

Brandon Phillips - he does it all! guts and hustle that would make Pete Rose proud. Loved the "Matrix" move he did to avoid getting tagged out at 2nd to stay out of the double play. Reds become the first playoff team ever to win a game after losing their starting pitcher after only one out! Against Matt Cain, in SF, how big was that game? Hope Cueto can come back.
Now on to the Yankees - O's. I hate the Yankees buy will be rooting for them just so I can see Ichiro in a World Series. I always root for the team that has the most ex-Mariners anyways, and so with Ichiro, Rafael Soriano, Raul Ibaņez, Freddy Garcia, David Aardsma, Derek Lowe and good old A-Rod it has to be the Yanks this year.
It'll be a 1977 World Series re-match, Reds vs. Yanks.
Just on a personal baseball history note, I've watched two of the best Wolrd Series games ever played while sipping suds at the Mountain Room bar after a good day's climbing - the 1988 game 1 where Gibson hit his famous HR off of Eckersley to beat the A's, and last year's marathon, punch-out slug fest game 6 between the Cards and the Rangers. Wish I was headed to the Valley again this year, but it's not gonna happen.

The Giants won a weak division and their second best hitter is a disgraced cheater and will not be play in the postseason. They have zero chance against the powerful Reds. As for the A's, it would be a nice story if they keep it going, but I'm not holding my breath. Go Orioles!

Man, I'm a big baseball fan. This seems to be the latest rant so I'll give it a bunt.
Just got home from the A's game tonight. I tapered off my backwoods schedule to accomodate the MLB postseason and did I ever guess right.
The A's are the dirtiest dirtbags ever to try to climb El Cap; moreover their sponsor stole their haulbags before they even blasted off. But he didn't get their beers, they're young and stupid, so off they launched.
Their buddies across the bay got better gear and better beer, but at the beginning of the week, even they were down for the count.
Now they're both one pitch away from the next cushy ledge. Either could tumble to death in an instant, but for the moment, sweet.
And that's Tonight's Sports Scores In Climbing Metaphors! Signing off.

When both were down 0-2, I said that if both team came back, and got to the world series, it would probably the biggest sensation in the history of Bay Area sports. I actually can see that happening now...Go Giants/A's!

I'd rather watch the WNBA...not really...but you get my point...
Carry on.

Giardi looks like a genius for pulling A Rod and sending Ibanez up to bat in the 9th. HR then to tie, and a HR on the first pitch of the 12th to win. Jubilation!
Nice, tight, suspenseful games. Masterful pitching. Clinch it tonight and continue the quest for 28!!!
