I've got reservations starting tomorrow (thursday) night and they go through next tuesday night. I'm bailing out of this place and can't use them. Its a different site every night.

December 10 - February 15.

But I was worried about tourists taking Mon and Tues off work and staying in the valley Friday - Wednesday. Regular valley pack I can handle, but extended holiday weekend might make me murder someone.

[Also - Doesn't NPS check driver's licenses to verity campsite buyer is campsite sleeper?]

NPS does check driver license to verify who should be staying at the site. But since the sites are only for one night each you never have to actually check in, just drive in after the ranger is gone from the Kiosk. You should be out climbing till then anyways...

All you whiners about traffic here are doing something very wrong. To avoid traffic on even the busiest weekend, SIMPLY drive in very early or late, park your car, and BIKE everywhere. Do not drive any more once you have parked. You will be weaving in and out of traffic with a big smile on your face.

If the sites are on one reservation they'll cancel if you don't check in after the first night.

You can tell the kiosk ranger your friend got the site but he wasn't able to make it. Have the phone number of the person on the reservation handy if they need to call to confirm.

Very generous offering the site for free, I'd suggest whoever takes them kick back at least 50% of the cost.

I'd be interested in hearing more about this.

In Mike's case, he has to have numerous reservations. The "cart" only holds 2 reservations and they are for 1 night each. Correct?

I've only heard of a reservation being cancelled for not checking in when the first night in a block of several nights in the same site is missed.

It's super easy to cancel on the website and get $20/night - $10/reservation back. I think the deadline is midnight 1-2 days before arrival or somesuch.

Generous gesture, thanks for the offer Mikey. Wish it coincided with my 3 day weekend. I'm SOL, hope someone takes advantage.

Hey! Just saw this over on Yosemite News. I'll happily take Monday and Tuesday if nobody else has asked for them yet.
