(summary: looking for a partner!)

I am on an extended climbing trip that started in January. I am climbing for 365 days straight to empower people with type 1 diabetes (which I have had for 13 years) to make lifestyle changes that embrace challenge and active lifestyles rather than simply accepting this illness and being a victim.

I am climbing every day-some days bigger and harder, other days smaller or easier and I am documenting this whole adventure via my blog and videos at www.livingvertical.org.

I am on day 122 and I am without a partner because my wife (who started out the project with me as my partner) was offered a job out of the blue so now the dynamic has shifted to solo projects and finding partners randomly which I have never tried before...

I am currently in San Diego and will be moving north into Yosemite in the next couple of weeks. I have never been to the valley to climb before because honestly the amount of people kind of freaked me out. Yosemite is intimidating. Nevertheless, this time I am going to sort it out and go for it...

I am open to all kinds of climbing. I can lead up to 5.10 and C2. I have no delusions of grandeur or desire to appear macho, so I try to be as realistic and honest in my self-appraisal as possible. I spent a solid month in Zion getting better on cracks and climbing Moonlight Buttress. I am new to aid so I am not super fast, but I am safe and competent to lead and haul. I am down to free routes too. I'd also like suggestions on good routes to solo in Yose (aid or free 5.easy or 4th class)

From Yosemite I'd like to head up the coast and spend some time in the Cascades then Squamish and the Bugaboos. Since I am just solo at the moment and have very little lined up, my schedule is open ended and can accommodate a fair amount of variety. Elephants perch is also on my ticklist if it works out. If you might want to partner with me for some climbing in any or ALL of these areas, have beta, free camping suggestions, route recommendations or input of any kind, I would greatly appreciate a PM or hit up this thread or what have you!

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the help, replies and feedback! What's a good route to aid solo (my first extended attempt at such a venture) I am thinking Lost Arrow Spire since I have no ledge.

Dude, I'll be home in El Portal on June 9th (currently on an oilfield). I'll be available at the very least, for beta. You'll definitely want to be in Tuolumne meadows, living the dream. Matthes Crest, the Echo Peaks, Conness, Fairview, etc. Solo Tenaya Peak-you'll love it!

havent done it solo but i think the west face of leaning tower would be a good solo. no portaledge needed. good climbing, easy hauling, easy descent in a great position with fun exposure and a nice summit.

Inspiring project Steve. If you make it Leavenworth, WA this summer, i'd be happy to put you up and psyched to get out climbing with you on the alpine granite of the stuart range. Also, if you are interested in giving a slideshow on your adventures and your cause, the Leavenworth Mountain Association would be honored to host you. Ill PM you my email.

Thank you all so much for the replies and the input! It is looking up--things are becoming clearer! (I think!) Might try Leaning Tower solo...that's my plan right now and piece together time with partners to free stuff and then head up to Tuolumne to try some of the longer, easier moderates, with or without partner.

Also--we just entered the final phase of a grant award that will allow us to produce the documentary and we need votes to win. Clicking THIS LINK Watch the "Project 365" video and you can vote by liking it through the vimeo page or by clicking the "SHARE" button on the video and posting it on any social media account that you use.

You don't need to sign up for anything or enter your email. It takes a second or two and it costs nothing. Thanks!
