Hey Guys,

I am hoping some of you can help our friends over at Sender Films. They are working on a very cool Yosemite film and need help un-earthing some historical treasures. THanks for the help!

 Chris

Hello SuperTopo Community:

Sender Films is now in full-fledged production on Valley Uprising, our feature documentary about the counterculture history of Yosemite climbing. We've interviewed everyone from Royal Robbins to Jim Bridwell, and it's turning out to be our most ambitious project yet!

Right now we are editing the Stonemasters part of the film. We're doing our best to illustrate the era with the best photos and footage out there.

Can you help us?

Do you have photos or footage from the 1970s and 80s? Did you tape TV shows that included your favorite climbers? How about old ads in magazines? Here's a list of things we would love:

Anything that illustrates the essence of Camp 4 culture
Photos or footage of 1960s climbers with the younger 1970s generation
Outrageous clothing styles from the era
 Pictures inside the Mountain Room
The 7Up commercial with Bachar and Bridwell -- or any advertisements/commercials
 Magazine covers
Recordings of old TV shows and competitions (Survival of the Fittest, etc.)

Sender Films has scoured SuperTopo. If it's already been posted on SuperTopo, you can be sure we've got it. We're interested in what HAS NOT been posted or has been taken down. We know there is more out there. Those gems that have been sitting in your garage for years -- that's what we're talking about.

Valley Uprising aims to be the definitive film about rock climbing. We want it to embody as much authenticity as possible. If you want the world to see what defined your subculture, the time is now!

Sender Films will handle shipping expenses and return all original material. If your photo or video makes it into the documentary, we will follow the appropriate procedures to license it from you. Contact producer Juliana Schatz with any questions. Her SuperTopo name is ValleyUprising. You can message her or reach her at the information listed below:

Alas no, just some intimidating memories. We barely got up "Revelation," while they ran amok all over the Weeping Wall. I don't remember climbers carrying cameras in those days. Some evidently did, but it never occurred to us to do so. The impulse to record everything one did lay in the future. We were just ourselves, climbing according to our own lights, as best we could. The best rock climber I ever saw was Tobin Sorenson. It was like seeing Steve Prefontaine run, which I did, at UCLA.

Typical grace for the young JB.

Hard to hang a head out of your nose without coughing.

Anything for a laugh though.

Herr Braun appears in and gets credit for the photo. Is there an appreciation thread somewhere? That photo seems a lot clearer than any copies I've seen before.

Happy campers, no?
