I still remember the two-part article in Mountain on British sea cliff climbing -- "The Gogarth Saga" -- and the vid of Barber on-sight soloing Strand. Never met the Holliwells, but Watusi and GK did and they related the stories so well. British Sea Cliff climbing is as core as it gets.

I don't know the story behind this, but did the people know this was about to happen? Really changes the meaning off "I'm off belay" if this collapse wasn't predicted.

BUT, I did spend a summer climbing with this brit who was a well-know Cornwall climber. Did serenity with him and Watusi, pumped out on the last pitch and got hauled up. He pointed at my arms and said "look, he's got wanker's arm!" Mike, help me out, what was that guy's name?

Early on in my climbing in Spain, we were walking by some particularly chossy limestone, on the way to some good stuff half a kilometer farther on, and my partner pointed and said "the British climb on this".
