Bergheil! How many years has it been since I heard that expression?
That expression woke up old brain cells.

I had a story published in The Climbing Art in the early / mid 1990's, but the journal had been going for a long while before that.

I lost my info / copy of the issue my story is in. I am also curious as to the history / people behind this publication.

The only thing I found was some back issues for sale on Amazon and this one Pic of a cover:

The one I had that I can't (D'OH!) find now has an illistration of the whymper party in the alps on it, I think? Or an issue near that one. The story is very short, about a climber leaving the local scene, getting big- time then returning to his roots. I can't remember what I called it and don't have the original anymore. The published version was edited too much IMO.

I put together the first 9 or ten issues, then it got taken over
by a fellow, and several issues came out, maybe ten more, nothing
too grand, then some new people bought it and wanted me back
as editor, so I went for it another four issues and didn't like
what was going on, as the editor would randomly step in and rewrite...
and so then another editor took over, and it was all downhill from there
and now just a memory... Most people grab the bad issues I was not
part of and compliment me for my fine work. Haha. Be sure
you see who the editor is on your copy or copies.

Is the vault easily accessible? Do you have a scanner?

DM,

I've got issues 1-4 in good condition and I'm ready to trade! PM me.

Pat- Said that the poem I submitted was "sophmoric." sheesh. I was so insulted. (even though it was pretty much crap)
