I will attest to the quality of this machine. I have the same gas powered Ryobi.

Mega-bolts per gallon possible in the remote areas (not talking wilderness or NPs!)

Be careful. Use it sparingly. Think out your routes and just use the right amount of bolts for your sport routes, or other, and then no more. You can put in really quality bolts with this. Think big and stainless. Do it right the first time so it doesn't have to be done again for a long, long time. Quality versus quantity.

I don't think you can lead with this from the ground up. At least I have never tried. It is a monster slung around the shoulder like a bandalier.

Don't leave the mixed gas in there for long periods of time, or you will be cleaning the carburator before you use it. Keep it clean and it will run for ever.

Great product.

I am not getting a kick-back from the OP. But probably should. ;-))

I haul it up to stances when leading with it. Sometimes I get my second to start it before I haul.

Mines not for sale. I think I paid about $200 for mine in 1992

That thing looks like it had a dark past.

Also it kinda takes the fun out of belaying, no way could you hear the whimpering from the leader as he is sketching off his stance just praying the hole is deep enough to allow the bit to carry some weight.

What happens when it won't start 3 pitches up? OR DOWN?

Man, that thing looks like it's barely used.

If you want to drill 1/2" bolts, and are in an area that allows power drills, the Ryobi is a sweet machine. I got one through a place that was blowing them out for $150, and as mentioned, I doubt anyone would drill enough bolts to come close to wearing it out.

You can stance drill by hanging it off of previous bolts with a fifi, but it really sucks trying to pull a 15# drill with one hand, and it's almost impossible to drill with it one handed. But for replacing anchor bolts and rapping down to replace lead bolts, it has few peers.

Jaybro you planning on bolting some sherman granite? Add some bolts to Luceille? I heard Lama is looking for some help down south. That motor might even keep your fingers warm for a while.
