You've probably heard of table saws with 'Saw Stop' features- a mechanism that stops a blade immediately if a human finger is in it's path. Check out this video of the inventor, putting it to the true test:

Wild sh*t! What's almost as entertaining is the pro/con dialogue in the comments, parallelling 'helmet law' arguments. I wonder what Tommy Caldwell thinks about 'Saw Stop' technology?
