Overview
The mouth of the Russian River opens wide at Goat Rock State Beach with seals, surfers, sightseers, and rock climbers all enjoying the many wonders of this incredible place. The driftwood-covered beach on the north side of the river mouth has two boulders on opposite ends that offer about five to ten problems each and two opposite styles of climbing: slab and steep. The schist boulder closest to the river mouth called The River Mouth Boulder has sandy landings and slabby problems from 5.6-V1 (sometimes the sand covers the rock) and the Fishhead Boulder on the north end of the beach has steeper problems from V0-V7.
