FA: Kevin Jaramillo, Bryan Bird 03/16-17/2007This route is located halfway between Hue and Cry and The Silmaril. Strikes and Gutters follows a prominent weakness that splits The Watchman from bottom to top. Begin by climbing the left side of a 30-foot tall varnished pillar and continuing up the chimney in a right-facing corner. Halfway up the route we took a wrong turn to the left at the 7/10 split and were forced to retreat back the original crack system and then traverse right into the next crack system west that parallels the bottom of the route. Less than 50 feet of aid split over Pitch 3 and the last pitch were free climbed by the follower. Rack: 2 ea 0.”-1.5”, 3 ea 1.75-3.5”, 2 ea 4-5”, one 6”, nuts, 2 ropes to descend Descent: descend the south ridge. (see North Ridge route) Climber Beta on Strikes and Gutters
